    Salt taste liquid chlorine pool

Nah I got your point, maybe you missed mine. This wasn't a scientific study, we weren't asked to taste the pool water nor to sample multiple water samples and notify someone when we felt we tasted salt. We went swimming with our two kids and both were like, wow why does this pool water taste...

    Salt taste liquid chlorine pool

Yeah I can tell you this, what we are experiencing isn't just a "start to taste" it, it's pretty salty. Maybe we are just sensitive to it, the pubmed link being 640 would suggest that this would be average, with my current salinity around 1800 that would be 3x when you start to taste it.

    Salt taste liquid chlorine pool

I just noticed that my CSI is getting awful close to -0.6 with my pH going to 7.4 every day, I am going to try and keep it closer to 7.8 and only push MA when it gets closer to 8.0 and see if that does something to the taste. Also going to fix the Cal carb issue cause it just looks bad and will...

    Salt taste liquid chlorine pool

Yes everyone tastes it, and nobody is really drinking the pool water, this is just from splashing and going underwater.

    Salt taste liquid chlorine pool

I noticed that but I also have found everyone saying that I shouldn't taste it until the 3000ppm range.

    Salt taste liquid chlorine pool

I have a bit of a weird one I can't seem to figure out. I use two stenner pumps to run liquid chlroine and muratic acid to keep my FC/PH in check. I have never had SWG and have never used salt of any kind but I do live about 50 miles from the gulf of mexico (houston area) Salinity 1820 ppm...

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

Good point, I was just going off of previous results.

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

Usually the amount I added would have done that but it seems like the MA is more effective now that TA is so low.

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

Ran the waterfall the other day when guests came over and then tested PH the next day and it was way over 8 so I added half a jug of MA and now it's sitting at 7.2 PH and my TA is 40. Checking pool math and I am at CSI -0.78 which is no good, been running the waterfall almost all day and trying...

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

Wanted to just follow up and say that once I got down to TA = 50 my pH stopped rising, I haven't been running the waterfall yet so that will be the next test but I haven't had to add MA in over two weeks and pH is holding steady at 7.6.

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

I saw that article too but everyone keeps telling me it raises pH  Either way (if it's the LC or the constant trickle over from spa to pool) neither are changing so I still have to stabilize my pH by using a non-standard (per some) lower TA. Hopefully this TA of 60 is where it lands, I...

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

I see what you mean, going to a TA of 50 really moves the CSI to -.2 and then I would have to really stay on top of the rock water fall which I am okay with cause the more it runs the cooler the water stays. We'll see after a couple more applications of liquid chlorine if the pH goes to 8 again...

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

Cl 5 pH 7.6 TA 60 Ch 270 CYA 50 BTW currently this is the most stable I have seen my pH since draining and filling over a month ago, I have only put in a half gallon back on Monday and that brought it from 8 down to 7.2 but it has been very stable since that and I have added 4 gallons of 10%...

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

Finally getting time to come back to this thread and re-read this document and I am taking this at face value of this first statement. "In the relationship between Total Alkalinity and pH, pH should be your focus. Keep it between 7.0 and 8.0. Let Total Alkalinity be what it may. If you are...

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

I ended up having to fill about a month ago and TA was up around 130, pH was about 8.0 but I haven't tested the water completely on it's own. I don't think my reagents are bad, double checking against Leslie's water check seems to suggest they are good (at least for the things Leslie's doesn't...

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

So do you ever add anything to raise TA because you feel it is getting too low?
  20. B

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

I have not but here is what I picked up from it. I need to keep my TA above 50 even though the only reason why it says to do this is to keep my pH from crashing which I don't have the problem of because I still have too high of a pH. So I guess that is still my question, it seems that with an...

Ph and TA and how to reach stability

I have a constantly running trickle down effect from my raised spa going into my pool as well as a waterfall feature that I only run a couple hours each weekend or when we have people over. I have noticed that every time I run the waterfall feature that my Ph raises and after a while of dumping...

A Case for Not Wanting Blue in our Pools!

Hey everyone, new to the board and found this thread after reading another about copper warnings. I have issues keeping my chlorine up and a friend of mine who also has a large pool recommended me the texas blue tablets, after using them i have found that they last twice as long and really keep...
