Experiences with Pentair CCP 520 Replacement from Allfilters.com for $160 ?

i just saw one major difference is that these really cheap ones have plastic caps instead of the rubber. That plastic is probably much more brittle and will break much faster. So I just went ahead and purchased the Optimum recommended by @mknauss. Hopefully they will last another 5.5 years like...

Experiences with Pentair CCP 520 Replacement from Allfilters.com for $160 ?

It truly is amazing how much the prices vary. Just found one for even less, $116 for 4 filters. A part of me wants to just give it a try, but then I think going with @mknauss filters where I know they won't fall apart within 3 months is probably the safer bet, even if they are double the price...

Experiences with Pentair CCP 520 Replacement from Allfilters.com for $160 ?

I just saw these. At $160 for a set of 4 vs $400-500 quoted by the local pool store for original pentair filters, I'm wondering, is it too good to be true? Are there differences in filters (e.g. too restrictive, not fine enough, won't last long) etc. that justify such a big price difference...

Small amount of pollen in salt cell - normal or bad filter?

That air relief filter has been deformed for a while and never sits properly on top of the pipe. I already ordered a new one. So I guess replace that first and if stuff still gets through then I have to replace the filters? One has a little tear at the very bottom I noticed.

Small amount of pollen in salt cell - normal or bad filter?

It's pollen season in Houston and I was about to clean my system. The 4 cartridge filters are loaded in pollen. Surprisingly pressure still barely went up at 25gpm. I also noticed a few strings of oak pollen on the ic40 caught on the plates. Is that normal that some minor amounts will pass...

Explanation for previous high CYA loss found?

Thanks for the interesting answers. The CYA loss happened already before I slammed. I actually think the slam was necessary because cya degraded, I was too lazy didn't test CYA for 2 months, then realized it was down to like 40-50 ppm which explained why the FC couldn't keep up anymore and...

Explanation for previous high CYA loss found?

Hi all. The first 4 seasons of having a pool I experienced high CYA loss of about 10ppm per Month. I read a bunch of posts on it but never a solution. Well this year I decided to increase my chlorine target. I had always targeted 5 ppm for my SWG because I wanted as little chlorine as necessary...

PH test increases over 1 minute

This happened again to me and I think it is due to the pH r0014 solution getting old. I tried side by side with a new one and on the old one if I continue shaking the pH will go from 7.2 all the way to 8.2 after 1-2 minutes. Tried again using a brand new bottle of r0014 and it staid stable at...

Replacement Aerator - Brass instead of Plastic? Increase gpm?

Yeah I was planning on replacing all 4 if I can get better flow through them. Right now I need to turn the intelliflo pump at 1800 RPM do get these aerators going well and it takes about 230 watts. I figured if I have lower head pressure, I would be able to get maybe twice as much water through...

Any ideas how I can aerate/cool this pool?

Don't expect miracles from the aerators. I live in Houston and my experience is similar to yours. I get maybe 1-2F extra cooling at max. compared to having nothing at all. I have 4 aerators under the deck that fan over the entire pool area, putting out about 12gpm of aerated water. And even...

Replacement Aerator - Brass instead of Plastic? Increase gpm?

One of my 3/4 inch plastic aerators - Pentair 8620150 - broke and instead of getting the exact same cheap plastic version, I was wondering if I should get this brass version. Any thoughts on whether brass could cause issues with my salt water pool? It wouldn't be submerged and and most of the...

    Aeration and Water Temperature

Living in Houston I am curious about your statement. My options: - Run the aerator during the day: Air Temp 100F, Dew Point 73F, Pool Water 90F - Run the aerator at night: Air Temp 82F, Dew Point 76F, Pool Water 90F Intuitively running the aerator when the outdoor temp is higher than the pool...

Effective Pool Cooling for Hot Climates

Just wanted to provide an update on this. 1) These umbrellas are much better quality than anticipated. They still look the same and work flawlessly. Great buy back then for $220 each from Amazon. The fabric still has the same color, shows no wear, etc. despite being outside the entire year for...

    Water aeration mechanism

I suggest reading this article. That little aerator most likely won't make a huge difference. I have 4 built in sprinklers and running those for 12 hours at night reduces temp by about 3-4F from 89F to 85F. Here in Houston the nights are incredibly humid and hot (low of 80F and 90 % humidity) so...

IC40 - SWG reporting 0 % salt (approx. 7 out of 10 startups) and temp appears ok

Just a quick update on this I got the salt cell to work most of the time again by doing the following. Not sure if this is coincidence or if one of these was the solution, but hey it works again :) 1) Since I had the pool covered in the spring, I had my CYA at just 5 or 10 ppm with the plan to...

Standing Water inside Pentair Actuator - replace with Tork?

I did that about 4 months ago when I noticed it leaking, I didn't think it would push all the way up into the actuator. Well lesson learned, next time I'll open up the actuator to double check. Any opinion on Tork actuators?

    Pentair CVA-24T leaking, mystery O-ring

Is your actuator still working? Was your board as corroded as mine too? (see bottom right corner) I just had the same issue but didn't think it was worse trying to repair the gears, especially since I couldn't figure out how to get to the bottom of the gears since the switch was tightly packed...

Standing Water inside Pentair Actuator - replace with Tork?

My actuator was all of a sudden no longer working after 5 years. The motor was running endlessly but nothing turned and it sounded like the gears were slipping. So I opened it up and found about 1/2" of water inside the actuator, the gears rusted, the board corroded ... Any idea how so much...

IC40 - SWG reporting 0 % salt (approx. 7 out of 10 startups) and temp appears ok

I didn't test it myself, salt is the only thing where I rely on Leslie's pools and they came back at 3200.

IC40 - SWG reporting 0 % salt (approx. 7 out of 10 startups) and temp appears ok

is there a way to do this without cutting it so that i could try if it makes a difference? Yes, the rail road lights runs at the startup every time. About 7 out of 9 times the red low salt light stays on, the other 2 times it everything is green. If I turn the pump off and back on, then...

IC40 - SWG reporting 0 % salt (approx. 7 out of 10 startups) and temp appears ok

Sorry, I had linked the same video twice by mistake. Here is the correct link to the diagnostics when the salt cell is not working. I updated the original post as well. https://photos.app.goo.gl/N2gPeYjrBemR6cLJA @JamesW I already watched that video. My problem is that the temp is correct and I...

IC40 - SWG reporting 0 % salt (approx. 7 out of 10 startups) and temp appears ok

The cell is about 3 years old. The crazy thing is why does Pentair suggest an acid wash with that 4:1 ratio if it reduces the life of the cell and can create such issues. I guess they only provide 2 year warranty, so they don't care ...

IC40 - SWG reporting 0 % salt (approx. 7 out of 10 startups) and temp appears ok

unfortunately the problem is that the light on the cell itself goes red as well (see videos linked). so it is not just a reporting/communication issue but actually 0 production. I thought about the flow switch but based on other posts on here that only works if the issue is the incorrect temp...

IC40 - SWG reporting 0 % salt (approx. 7 out of 10 startups) and temp appears ok

Hi, I did an acid wash on my salt cell, exactly per the pentair manual with a 4:1 water:acid solution since i had a bit of scaling on the plates. After that, I now have the issue that the salt detection doesn't work maybe 7 out of 10 times. If I turn everything off, turn it back on, the salt...

    White flakes

yes I have this all the time as well. My dolphin robot actually does a good job vaccuming it up and i guess i extract a little calcium out of the water that way. Mine started happening when Calcium went above 400ppm. Trying to keep PH under 7.8 in my pool is almost impossible, it just bounces up...

    Overflow Drain Blocking Device

No we just had the pool builder install a quarter turn valve. Now I keep the overflow drain closed unless there is a hurricane on its way and we get 4+ inches in a few days.
