Pump not working on Low speed

That's kind of what I figured. No click from the relay. Is this something I might be able to repair with the correct parts? Or perhaps a warranty repair? I believe because I purchased pump, filter and automation, I get 3 years from Hayward.

Pump not working on Low speed

2 speed Hayward pump with aqua plus controls going on its 3rd season. Opened pool 2 days ago and pump was operating fine. Ran the pool cleaner today on high speed for about 8 hrs. Went to kick the pump down to low for awhile and nothing. Tried several different times. Motor is not turning at...

    How to clean spa cover

This is what you want to use. It's regarded as the best for protection from UV damage. Used heavily in the marine and boating industry. Do Not substitute with Armor All or the like as the formula is not the same. Automotive vinyl/interior differs from that used on HT covers and such. 303®...

New Pool in MA coming Soon

Unless your doing some sort of soft nautral stone coping/patio or have an aversion to slighlty saline pool water I seriously suggest you reconsider the SWG option. Not sure where you've received all the mixed reviews, but it generally regarded around here as a beneficial upgrade. For us, we love...

    Wohoo - New Pool Construction

I like the call on the 8ft deepend. One thing I wish I had added during construction was a dedicated suction port for a cleaner. The cost increase would have been negligible in the grand scheme and would have saved me the hassle of futzin with the skimmer when I need to hook up the vac. I would...

    Hot Tub Buying Guide

I disagree. How is a layer of plastic going to ensure a tub with water that weighs thousands of pounds doesnt settle unevenly? I believe there are no shortcuts to a solid foundation or a well compacted base.

New Pool construction Long Island, NY

I bet that paver decking/coping cost more than the pool.

    First post.....pics included

I too, questioned the omission of a main drain during construction of my pool. I deferred to the builder's experience/knowledge on this issue. I have only owned the pool 2 summers now, but so far I don't see the need in my pool. Here;s why: -Proper circulation/mixing of water in the deep-end is...

    Technichlor SWG users

Walleye, Which unit do you have? The in-line or the one that is dropped into the tub itself?? I am seriously considering purchasing one to alleviate the daily dosing of bleach.

    Hot tub vs. inground spa

I'd like to add a of couple things in regards to power consumption. Obviously price/kWHr is key, but your location will greatly influence your utility costs. Here in the North East, you can expect your electric bill to increase a lot more than $10 during the winter months, even for a...

I Think My Approach To This Is All Wrong

It's not going to make a huge difference, but I'd say your estimation is still over by 100 gallons. Remember, you do not fill the spa to the very top with water. IMO...trying to calculate the volume of a spa using mathematics/formulas isn't really practical due to all the odd shapes and...

I Think My Approach To This Is All Wrong

Just as a heads up to help you with The Pool Calculator, I believe you are grossly overstimating your volume. Judging from the pic your tub looks no where near 650 gallons. I have one of the largest available (92" x 92", 7 seater with no lounger) and mine only holds 400. Doesnt appears to be...

How deep should be an inground pool?

Why is that? ...and I'm on board with Skippy in regards to diving. To me, it's one of the luxuries of having an IG pool as opposed to an AG. Certainly everyone has their own needs and particular methods of using/enjoying their pool and for us, we like to be able to dive into the water. I did...

That's alot of returns for for a pool of that size. Any particular reason. Just wondering. Looks like it's gonna be a nice pool.

    16 x 32 Big Enough?

A couple of things....To me, it's not so much about gallonage as it surface area/square footage and in IMO a rectangular 16 'x 32' is already a smallish pool. Your builder staked out a free-form, which means its most likely 16' at its widest and 32' at its longest, which is even smaller. Plus...

    Pool Size Dilemma

I echo bobby1017's comments. We starting the pricing with a 16' x 32'. Then considered the 18' x 36', but finally ended up with an 18' x 38'. It's been my experience that just viewing a calm pool with no bathers is deceiving and gives the illusion that it's larger than it it. Ours is a decent...

    Sealing pavers?

Sorry for the confusion. I'm pretty much a newb myself, but I thought maintaining your pool using just 3 basic grocery store items(which I assumed were manually dosed) was practicing BBB. As opposed to purchasing all the fancy high priced and often unnecessary chemicals pushed at the pool store...

    Sealing pavers?

yeah, I opened a couple weeks ago during the heat wave. I knew it was too early and we'd have more sub-freezing weather, but I had that week off and it was good time to bang it all out. Also, the sun/warmth provided optimal condtions to dry out my cover. Can't wait for the water temp to get...

    Sealing pavers?

I appreciate the replies. Reducing the amount/severity of stains from spills and such is the main motivation to seal the pavers. However, the wife really likes the darker look the pavers take on when wet, so I was hoping to find a sealer that could do both. My installer had said they...

    Sealing pavers?

I had about 1600 sqft of pavers installed last spring and now I think it's time to apply a protectant. I'm looking for a sealer that leaves a "wet look". Does anyone have any experience or familiarity with a product that can achieve these results without compromising traction?

BigJD's Pool Build by the numbers

I did the Blu-60, also. For coping I used the TB bullnose paver, but I chose Parisien 6x9 as a border. I referred to that Garden Web post several times when I was choosing a product, but until my installer to took me to view an actual Blu patio he did in person, I didn't realize how large the...

Nice! How many square feet? What color and are you doing a border?

    Vinyl selection??

Another option is a no border or what is referred to as full print liners. When I was choosing my liner I thought most of the border options were rather tacky. Everyone has their own style, but we chose borderless and IMHO it presents a more classic/clean look that we were after.

    Custom skimmer lids? (Pic)

I did not. I couldn't locate a recessed lid to fit the square skimmer throat the builder used. I did order a couple grey skimmer lids from Hayward that blend in with my pavers somewhat.
