What can cause continuous high CC besides algae?

Everything is testing great now and since the CYA is holding the chlorine, I haven't had to add any more bleach yet! So glad to have an answer!

What can cause continuous high CC besides algae?

Just ran a set of tests and the CC is still gone! FC=9 1/2 CC=0 Alk=90 PH=7.7 I will knock the PH down a bit, but everything else looks good :) I will test CYA when we have some sun just to check it again and then get back to keeping a FC in a good range.

5th day of SLAM- CC won't go below 1.

Figured this out in a separate thread, but wanted to update here. It seems my test tube needed to be scrubbed out. After rinsing with very hot water and rubbing it and drying it with a paper towel, I repeated the chlorine tests. I am now passing the CC test. I had been rinsing with tap water at...

What can cause continuous high CC besides algae?

Holy cow! It was the darn test tube! Or at least it seems it was. I washed everything with really hot water and wiped out the inside with paper towel. Dipped everything in the pool and repeated the test several times. CC is now below .5! I will test again in an hour. Hopefully this was the...

What can cause continuous high CC besides algae?

I did read that here. I have tried the test both ways. A few weeks ago I passed the CC test, even without the extra drop. Now, it takes me 2 or 3 drops each time for it to go clear. I fail either way. I am wondering if somehow reagent 3 got contaminated or stopped working. The other 2 reagents...

What can cause continuous high CC besides algae?

Passed the OCLT again last night (between 9:40 and 4:15) FC dropped .5 CC remained 1 I am going to let the FC levels drift down and see what happens. Still confused as to what is causing the CC. Thanks everyone!

What can cause continuous high CC besides algae?

Thank you for responding :) I didn't add anything like that this year. I did add algaecide and Metal Out last year before figuring out the Trouble Free Pool method. The pool was drained down to the bottom step in the spring while we repaired the top 2 steps. The pool was testing fine at first...

What can cause continuous high CC besides algae?

Water has looked clear the whole time. I started the SLAM because of the CC reading of 1. 2 nights ago, passed the OCLT Will repeat test tonight. Yes, CC has been 1 or more each day (even after OCLT) No cover on pool (It did not come with one/ we bought this house last year) Havent seen any...

What can cause continuous high CC besides algae?

I have been SLAMing my pool for 8 days now because of a reading of CC=1 The water has looked clear the whole time. CYA between 30-40 (using SLAM value of 16) I passed the OCLT. My CC remains stubbornly at 1-1.5. Filter is running 24/7 and pressure is not rising (staying around 13) Manually...

5th day of SLAM- CC won't go below 1.

Thank you for all your help! Ok. Checked CYA one more time. It is 30, so aiming for SLAM level of 12. I started to let the levels drift down and did the OCLT. It passed. Water still looks clear. Tuesday, July 10th 5:00 PM FC 16 CC 1 9:45 PM FC 15 CC 1.5 Wednesday, July 11th (today) 12:45...

5th day of SLAM- CC won't go below 1.

Thank you for the response about the CYA. I did use that CYA testing method. Back to sun, hold waist high, glance quickly at the tube. Had my son do it too in case I was cheating by "knowing" the dot was there. Given the CYA test result, should I continue the SLAM using CYA of 30, thus FC goal...

5th day of SLAM- CC won't go below 1.

How long does it take before CYA registers on the test? I added some 6 days ago to bring it up to 40 and have been SLAMing at a level of 16 I tested today and got CYA of 30. (My previous level) Am I wasting tons of bleach assuming it is 40? I lost 6 ppm (from 16 down to 10) over 4 hours this...

5th day of SLAM- CC won't go below 1.

Running pump 24/7 pressure usually around 13 1/2, I backwash before it hits 15 Failing Overnight test. I figured I might need more patience, but I wanted to see if there was anything else I could do. Thank you!

5th day of SLAM- CC won't go below 1.

I didn't add any of that (and no one else adds stuff to the pool) This year I used a bit of PH up at opening, dry CYA, and liquid bleach only. I am using Walmart's chlorinating liquid. Last year, I did add copper algaecide and I think I was accidentally using splashless bleach sometimes. We...

5th day of SLAM- CC won't go below 1.

I can't figure out what is going on. I opened the pool pool this year to pretty nice water, got all levels in range, and have been using trouble free pool methods. I raised my CYA to 30 and was keeping my FC above 3 all the time (aiming for 4-5) except for 1 time when it was 2.5 (which still...

Green pool- not sure what to do next

Follow-up question, should I use something like Jack's Blue Stuff when this is over to handle the copper that I added via the algaecide?

Green pool- not sure what to do next

Checked chlorine again at 5:00. FC= 11 CC= 2 So I added more liquid bleach to get it back up to 16 ppm. This is a picture of the pool. It is definitely green tinted, but not clear. I cannot see the bottom. I also have brownish, yellowish stuff coating all the surfaces. It clouds up when I...

Green pool- not sure what to do next

I am a first time pool owner. Unfortunately, I used the pool store for advice before finding this forum. Even though I have a vinyl liner, they had me add lots of calcium to the pool. Eventually, I found this site. Following the procedures here, I have been checking my levels using a Taylor...
