    Best Trees for Pool Area?

We have had good experiences with cherry laurel, they are evergreen and ours actually survived the recent 5 degree cold snap!

Added Borates, ph still drifts up

Thanks for your inputs! I think I will aerate to lower my TA some more, and just plan to keep the pH at around 8.0.

Added Borates, ph still drifts up

My question remains, however: is a pH of 8.4 OK as long as the CSI is in the balanced range? Supposedly, that CSI value says that I should not have problems with scaling.

Good question--just checked it, its about 320.

Added Borates, ph still drifts up

Questions for some of you pool chemistry gurus: I have always had to add lots of acid to keep my pH down to 7.6 - 7.8, so I thought I would try adding borates. I lowered the pH to 7.6, added about 33 lbs of boric acid a couple of weeks ago, so I should be around 50ppm borates now. My...

Can I add an "All Button" wired control panel?

Will probably check for a cheapo OneTouch from time to time on Ebay, but the smartphone is still working great! After using this for a while, I just might remove and sell my JBox/PDA combo on Ebay. It is fully functional, but now redundant unless one really wants a waterproof handheld PDA, and...

Can I add an "All Button" wired control panel?

Well, it finally dawned on me that I could use my old Samsung smartphone to do what I need, for free. I just turned off the phone's login requirement, and have the web controller interface displayed on the always-open iAqualink smartphone app--so I now have a wireless, dedicated controller...

Question for Jandy Aqualink users of "All Button" and/or "One Touch" wired, wall-mount panels

Thank you, HEaton02! Just what I needed to know. Sounds like it is similar to the display on my hand-held wireless PDA, once it is turned on and connects. The PDA turns off automatically after a few minutes to save the batteries, of course.

Question for Jandy Aqualink users of "All Button" and/or "One Touch" wired, wall-mount panels

Thanks for your feedback, Allen--very helpful! Anyone out there using the Jandy One Touch wall control panel?

Question for Jandy Aqualink users of "All Button" and/or "One Touch" wired, wall-mount panels

For those of you who use the above hard-wired wall-mount controllers on your Jandy controller, what does the display show when it is just sitting there on your wall? IE, does it show basic pool parameters, such as water temp , air temp, etc.? Background: I had started another thread (thank you...

Can I add an "All Button" wired control panel?

I already have the app on my phone, and I also have a wireless "PDA" handheld. My issue is that I miss the convenience of just walking up to an "old-fashioned" wall-mounted control panel (the Pentair unit which I used to have in my former residence), and seeing what the pool temp and outside...

Can I add an "All Button" wired control panel?

I read a few reviews for that one on Amazon, and one mentioned that "it won’t see or program Variable Speed Pumps." which would not be a good thing for me.

Can I add an "All Button" wired control panel?

Here is the latest: I emailed Jandy support (now owned by a Spanish company, "Fluidra") with the information about my system revision, and was informed "Yes, the OneTouch and our All button controls are compatible with the system you currently have." So, I guess I'll start looking for a...

Can I add an "All Button" wired control panel?

I messaged the seller above to ask if the All Button would not work with his new board, he replied that he did not try it. Also, I asked my PB specifically and he said the All Button would not work on my system (hoping he had one in his junk box!). The phone wait time at Jandy support was 115...

Can I add an "All Button" wired control panel?

Thanks for the replies! Since I don't have an All Button, I cannot determine the revision level using the method above. For programming, I use either my Android phone with an iAquaLink app, which will also open a more detailed web-based interface, or I use the handheld "PDA". Neither of those...

Can I add an "All Button" wired control panel?

Hope some of you Jandy experts can help with this. My pool was finished in June 2018, and my PB installed both the home wireless network box, and the PDA wireless network box, so I can use my phone or the dedicated PDA handheld remote for pool control. However, I really miss my old wired...

Circuit Breaker for Waterfall Pump Trips Without Even Turning on Waterfall Pump

A quick update on my circuit breaker experience. The Eaton breaker failed again during our next humid period, so I replaced it with a Siemens QF220A that I bought online from Zoro. They had the best price, and even a further discount if you subscribe to their mailing list. The Siemens breaker...

Circuit Breaker for Waterfall Pump Trips Without Even Turning on Waterfall Pump

I know this thread is a little old, but here's my 2 cents. I have a dual 20-amp GFCI breaker inside my Intellitouch panel that randomly trips. When it does, the pump and chlorinator are off, but there is no indication of that on the panel display or on the remote display, so you think all is...

How to slow evaporation without heating pool?

Thanks for inputs and suggestions I like the idea of using a few "sun rings" because I have stowed our reel and cover for the summer, and my wife and I swim once or twice a day. So minimizing the hassles of removing the stuff is essential. Right now, our pool typically warms from 82-84 in the...

How to slow evaporation without heating pool?

OK, I have a solar bubble cover, and I use it in the spring and fall. But, during the summer here in Austin TX, I would like to slow down the evaporation rate of the pool without heating it up. Just solar heating with no cover usually keeps our pool between 83 and 89F. If I were to keep the...

A do-it-yourself idea to remove calcium?

After last summer's drought here in Texas, with our Austin makeup water being in the "moderately hard" category, my pool water's CH is now around 500. I have rigged a gutter drain to empty into the pool to try to capture as much calcium-free refill as I can during our spring (hopefully) rainy...

Pentair Easy Touch Indoor Control Panel, NO COMM

Hmm, no response from anyone here, so I posted a question on the Pentair user forum--technician Ben says the unit is bad. Even if the software is out of date, it will offer to upload from the outdoor controller, but if the link is bad, it can't do that. So, I'm returning it to the supplier as...

Pentair Easy Touch Indoor Control Panel, NO COMM

I just bought an additional 4-zone Easy Touch Indoor Control Panel to add to another part of our house. I snapped out the exiting indoor panel, which is working just fine, and snapped the new one in, just to make sure it works OK. But, it lights up and just says "NO COMM", won't communicate...

White stuff in my PoolSkim, climbing CH

Wanted to add more info on this problem, in case any other newbies like me can learn from my issues! The white flakes have been coming from my SWG. I actually checked it in the spring, and the plates were clean as a whistle! But, checked it this morning (July 7), and it was crammed with...

White stuff in my PoolSkim, climbing CH

I have added maybe 3 gallons total of "pool shock" liquid chlorine since we opened the pool in September, have none left, last time was early spring just to use up the last bit when the chlorine test was a little low. Not even sure if it was "cal-hypo", just 10% bleach.

White stuff in my PoolSkim, climbing CH

OK, good idea. Tested our tap water and found CH to be 30. So, it does not appear that the elevated CH is coming from the city water. What next? (with all this CH testing, my reagent 0010 in the TFP test kit is going fast!) Maybe a problem with my plaster?

White stuff in my PoolSkim, climbing CH

Noticed some flakes of white stuff along with the normal trash in my PoolSkim sock, they are not salt (I carefully tasted - no real taste). So, not only does the PoolSkim do a great job skimming, maybe it is also and early warning device! So, I check my chemistry: FC: 3 pH: 7.8 T/A: 85 CYA...
