New(er) pool owner, very stubborn brownish stains

Yes, I'm now enjoying my TFP, thank you very much to all of you who helped me get through the process. I now feel like I have full control of my pool water! I don't know if it benefits the site at all but I purchased the Pool Math app back towards the beginning of my SLAM process.

I finally passed an OCLT! 15 last night, 15 this morning. And my stains are pretty much gone, had to raise the shock level to between 35 and 40 a few times and that seemed to do it. Here are my before and after photos:

I'm going to continue my SLAM, the stains are organic as far as I can tell. When I first started a month ago, the chlorine puck almost instantly dissolved the stains, where Jack's stain id did absolutely nothing to the stains. I've been keeping the FC above 20 for a while and it does appear...

New(er) pool owner, very stubborn brownish stains

I tried rubbing a puck on it tonight while I was in the pool, it appears that rubbing the puck on the stains only temporarily lightened the stain. Within a minute the stain would darken again. I tried rubbing a stain with my foot and it reacted the same, it seemed to lighten a bit but once I...

Sounds good, I won't be able to get a puck in there until Thursday.. should I continue to keep my FC high for a while longer?

I initially did try that when determining that I have organic staining. The puck did lighten the stain, but after a period of time the stains became darker - maybe that was because at that point my FC was at 0?

I tried a somewhat aggressive approach today and sprinkled 3 x 12 oz bags of granulated Cal Hypo 73% on the stains and it made a noticeable difference in lightening up my brown stains. I'm wondering if it is some type of algae. The Cal Hypo brought my FC up to 37.5, and a test 2 hours later the...

Alright, I'm starting to feel better. I just tested: 5:10pm FC 15 CC 0 The chlorine appears to be holding pretty well, I haven't put anything in today. My wife and kids used the pool today, and it's been pretty sunny all day. Should I do another OCLT tonight?

Yeah I thought the same thing, but maybe it is finally stabilizing. I just tested at 8:10pm FC 19.5 CC 0 My FC actually went up on it's own since my last test at 5pm, hopefully that's good! I just added some chlorine to raise the FC for the OCLT.

My pump has been continuously running for the SLAM and I've had my vacuum in and running since last night. 5:00pm FC 17.5 CC 0 I lost just a little FC during the day today. I can try taking the ladder out possibly tonight and leaving it out overnight. If I still can't hold FC for the OCLT...

Ok thanks guys! I removed the noodles and duct tape entirely but we used the pool tonight so the ladder is back in. I also did a thorough brushing yesterday while I was in the pool. The walls don't feel slimy to me, they just feel smooth. I just ran a test at 7:30pm: FC 14 CC 0 I still have...

I'll continue the SLAM this evening and run another OCLT as well. Seems like something is still in there consuming the chlorine. I cleaned out my cartridge and both filter baskets. I also checked around my ladder and didn't see anything. I do have an idea, the previous owners (who installed...
