Best cover for keeping mom's pool closed long-term

Here’s my setup: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000WQZCQO https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00274SLK8 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07TFYX622 Very happy with it. 4 years running.

    Draining Fiberglass pool below returns

We've had our FG pool for 4 years now. The only line that ever has any antifreeze is the skimmer line (single skimmer). I just closed our pool myself for the first time and did the same things they did. Ran the cyclone and capped the returns while the air was moving (and ton of air, so...

Fair enough. I’ll run one when I get back from traveling on Wednesday evening.

Order of Operations. Check my list please!

My CL has been rock solid forever. Never had an issue this season (nor last). I think I’m good, because I’ll add some floating pucks for the winter (my cya needs to come up a bit anyway). I appreciate the repeat on #21, but a bottle and only 5 sticks is an uphill battle :)

Order of Operations. Check my list please!

Would someone kindly confirm my order of operations for pool closing (@Newdude has also offered plenty of help that I have already skimmed)? First time closer, and for some reason, oddly nervous. Day before close, bring up LC to about 15ppm, add polyquat 60 according to directions (allowing...

Starting the closing process (shopping, not actually doing just yet). Few ?’s

As a scientist myself, I’ve accepted the fact this is NOT rocket science! I’ll take my time and enjoy the process :)

Starting the closing process (shopping, not actually doing just yet). Few ?’s

Yeah, sorry; it was #3. To be fair, in the 3 years we’ve opened the pool. The water level has been almost identical in the water at opening as it was at closing. The returns have always been gurgling with air when they put the plugs in. Id prefer to do it that way. Having said that, I assume...

Starting the closing process (shopping, not actually doing just yet). Few ?’s

For #2… does this apply to our fiberglass pool? I think all my current closer did was lower to below skimmer level. Two years ago, they didn’t. Water was surrounding the gizmo. We have a solid cover, FYI.

Starting the closing process (shopping, not actually doing just yet). Few ?’s

This year I’m saving $300 (and every year hereafter). I have all the parts I need (blower, modified pentair pump lid, plugs, gizmo, etc.) but I wanted to ask this up front. 1. Our pool company always filled the floating cylinders with pucks. I assume it was TRI-Chlor or something (probably...

IntelliCenter - Revert back to Firmware Version 1.064

Anyone else just get auto updated to 2.017? I know for a fact that I didn’t update it, yet, I just noticed that my IntelliCenter was updated (my poolcontroller dashboard wasn’t working) to 2.017. I’ve just rolled back to 1.064 and it’s back to working perfectly again.

    Pentair Microbrite light colors

You can do it from the web version or from the iOS app (likely easier from the app when your near your pool). Just go open all, go to lights, select your color mode and you’ll see the hold and recall buttons. If I am not mistaken, HOLD is the 13 on/off cycles and RECALL is the 14 on/off cycles...

    Pentair Microbrite light colors

Just to clarify, you can hold and recall just one color in a light show that you want as your favorite. You won’t be able to “snapshot” multiple colors for future use. Which is a shame because some of the blue and orange/yellow shades look quite stunning in our pool.

    Pentair Intelliflo3 VSF RPM

Our setup requires 12GPM flow to keep the salt generating 24/7. Sadly, that’s right at the cusp of 1500 rpm in our case. So, I set it to 1600RPM (our equipment pad is far from our pool) and we get 14-16 GPM (depending on how clogged the hairnet in the skimmer gets). This is plenty enough to...

Pentair IntelliCenter Pool Control Dashboard Instructional Guide

Wanted to thank @rstrouse and @tagyoureit for their help (over on the repo). As it turns out, a storm last week blew out only 1 of my com ports on my IC main board (com “b”, J4). Long story short, that was the one my IC board was connected to, so NONE of the com ports were responding. Once I...

    Pool cleaner gummy cord?

Albert (kids’ given name to our warrior SE) has been sitting in the pool for 3 years, 24/7. Only take it out when closed for winter. Cord has a slight “tackiness” to it, but works perfectly and doesn’t bother me.

Lost Sunglasses Screw in Pool - Problem?

Do you have a robot or a vacuum? You can always throw a hairnet or stocking over the inlet of the vacuum and see if it winds up there. Alternatively, a pair of goggles and some dedication should do the trick :)
