Thanks, Zea3. What are the thoughts about changing out the sand? At the end of last season(my first), I emptied the sand, cleaned the filter and stored it for the winter in my garage. Does the sand have to be changed each season?

Ok. I am going to say........ THIS POOL IS CLEAN AND CLEAR!!! I did the OCLT last night and had ZERO drop in FC!! I used the 25 mL method so I would be more precise. Came up with 3.6 ppm at 8 pm. This morning at 7 am it was the same. So what is the next step? Allow the FC to drop to .3 to .5...

Can anyone tell me how long a SLAM takes? I am just trying to figure out how many more gals of Chlorine to buy. I would think that everything is dead in the water. How much of a drop in FC can I attribute to the Sun?

Ok. Just added another 2 gal of 8.25% liquid chlorine. Will test for all tomorrow morning. The CYA test, in the Taylor K-2006 is just a visual. When the "black dot" disappears, read the CYA level, right?

I hope you aren't suggesting ANOTHER drain/refill? Is the CYA test reliable with a FC above 20 - 30? What is driving the CYA up? How do I control THAT? PS..This has involved SOME BudLight.....Mostly medicinally, of course... ;)

Thanks, Boxhat1. I have been told, here, that the Ph will show false high during SLAM. The last time I tested for it, before starting the SLAM, it was 7.2. Aerated for 2 days, brought it up to 7.6(reliable?). Been running the filter 24/7 since 5/2. I REALLY don't expect a change by tomorrow...
