    In ground pool leak

Thanks Richard! I said 1/8, but it's more or less a guess. I've had the pool for 3 summers already and have only needed to refill (adjust water level with hose) maybe 3 times...two of which were last summer (very hot summer). And at this rate, i have already refilled twice. I also have a solar...

    In ground pool leak

I did some searching on here and couldn't find exactly what to do.... Some background: 20x38 IG pool, vinyl liner, Digital Autopilot SWG, Hayward Super Pump (1 hp???), Hayward sand filter, old heater which is turned off, one bottom drain and skimmer, two return jets. My pool water level is...

Digital Auto Pilot - bad salt readings

Hi guys, How long after adding bags of salt should i wait to get an accurate reading on my Auto Pilot? Connected my Auto Pilot maybe a week ago. Salt level showed up as low on the screen. So i tested with the salt strip, adjusted the Auto Pilot by maybe 100 ppm, then added like 4 bags of salt...

    Liner slipped out of copping

Hi guys, I went for a swim this weekend and noticed that the liner popped out of the copping. It's only about an inch long and barely out. How should i go about fixing this? I'd rather pop it back in there myself if it's easy to do. Do i just pull off the copping and try and reinsert the...

    Heat Pump Advice

I was just wondering if these Costco Heat Pumps are of good quality. I don't find lots of reviews online. Either way, I'm not even sure if they sell one big enough for my pool. I have a 20x38 IG pool. It might be enough though, because it would only be used to keep the water a bit warmer for...

    Heat Pump Advice

Hey guys, I was wondering how your Aquaproheat pumps from Costco are holding up? I've been looking to buy one, but have been reluctant. Cheers!

    Crack in step

winter is over and i noticed yesterday that the crack in the steps is starting again. It seems like it's the exact same spot. The stuff that he put on to fix it is cracking. Starting from the very top again. I called the guy who repaired it and he's coming this week.

Ask Pool Service Techs-Evaluate Aquapro vs Pentair Heatpump

Re: Ask Pool Service Techs-Evaluate Aquapro vs Pentair Heatp I'm wondering about the Aquapro as well! Only heat pump we can get at a decent price up here in Canada.

    Chemicals needed for opening

Richard, Unfortunately i live in Canada, so i can't purchase that kit. It costs an arm and a leg in Canada. Pool stores usually test your water for free up here. Unfortunately, they aren't always honest (in my opinion) as they try and sell you as many chemicals as possible. I have the water...

    Chemicals needed for opening

Thanks Jason! It got dark too early, so i couldn't completely open it tonight. Water's still fairly cold too. So my CC level should be LOWER than 0.5? I know there's a reason for this, but i assumed high chlorine level was better than low. Thanks again!

    Chemicals needed for opening

Hi guys, I do not cover my pool for winter (not much debris near my pool). The ice/snow is gone and my pool is ready for opening. I cleaned out the few leaves and bugs from the bottom of the pool. There's still some dirt on the bottom which i will vacuum or filter out once i get things...

    Heat Siphon Z700

I did buy a solar cover this summer. The cover itself kept the pool at a more constant temperature. Is the Z700 one of the top heaters or should i be looking at other options?

    Heat Siphon Z700

I was wondering if anyone can comment on this heater. I am thinking of purchasing a pool heater, but i don't know much about which company or model are good. Prices up here are ridiculous, unless you get into smaller models or cheaper brands. I have a IG 20x40 pool with a SWG. I live in Eastern...

    Skimmer

Yes, i have two valves going to the pump. I will have a closer look in the bottom of the skimmer and try to see if that second hole goes anywhere. Thanks!

    Skimmer

Yes, i do have a main drain. So what does this flap do exactly? The main drain goes to the pump AND the skimmer...or just to the skimmer? Thanks!

    Skimmer

Hoping someone can answer this question for me. I have a 20x40 IG pool. At the bottom of the skimmer, there are two holes. I imagine one of the holes is the return to the pump. What is the other one for? And how do i winterize it? There's a plastic latch that seems to be able to block off on or...

    Closing an in ground pool

Thanks Jason, The pool store had a winterize package that include something they call "winter shock" and "winter algaecide"...so i'm guessing i can add that before i shut off the pump. I was wondering why the need to lower the water level? Also, how should i add the anti-freeze to the bottom...

    Closing an in ground pool

I'm trying to close my pool by myself for the first time. 20x40 in ground vinyl liner, swg, sand filter. I have been reading online and i am not 100% sure what to do yet! Last winter the company who closed the pool drained water to below the returns (i have two), but by the time it was...

    Pool Pump choice

I was wondering if there are any Canadians on here that have used this website: http://www.poolsuppliescanada.ca/products.php?product=Hayward-1-HP-Super-Pump-Inground The pump price comes out to roughly $425 delivered. Much cheaper than what i'm getting as locally. Anyone use that site before?

    Vinyl liner replaced last year

I was thinking the same thing... Could i get the replacement liner and keep it to install years later? I want it, but i really don't have the budget to get it installed right now. I don't think it's easy enough to install it myself...

    Pool Pump choice

I checked all the pipes coming in and going out...and nothing seems to be leaking. The gasket seems ok, but it's not new. I bought a new one and might install it tonight. The pool store guy says it could be something in the pump which makes it lose some suction power. Not sure what he called...

    Crack in step

Well, i had an acrylic repair guy come in. He actually does warranty work for my pool step company. He looked at it and said it is repairable. He says the deck (cement) settled and, over time, the stress on the step cracked it. He also says that it shouldn't crack again. So he came back and...

    Vinyl liner replaced last year

I have a solar blanket this summer, but the pattern was rubbed off when i opened from the winter. There is ice in the pool over the winter and last winter, the pool guys didn't instal the big black tarp i have to cover the pool. So i thought it was the ice rubbing the pattern off. Is that...

    Vinyl liner replaced last year

Well, i sent the pictures to the installer ( i will try and post them later tonight). The manufacturer says that it is a defect and covered under warranty. However, they do not cover labor. The labor is a significant cost! I'm guessing a few thousand. Seems to me a one year old liner should...
