Intex Sand filter pump not holding prime.

Is the pump elevated? It should be on the ground, or close to it, so that water flows down the inlet and keeps it in prime.

Opening my AGP after its first year being left up over winter, need some reminders!

Sounds like you have the numbers together, get a sock hanging with the proper dose of CYA and get the chlorine back up to SLAM levels. I have no knowledge of SWG systems and what to tell you there.

    WOW!

Lost my cover 1/2 way through the winter! But I know with what I've learned here, all will be well! Went from green swamp to blue but cloudy in a day! Be right before I know it!

Trying to find a vacuum for pro series pool!

Did you get a sand filter? A cartridge filter will not pull a vacuum, and is bound to be a PITA. The Intex sand filter system will fit, make sure to get the adapters. Huge increase in water flow! Then get a real deal pool hose, vacuum head and extension stick, got mine at Lowes. There are...

New Intex sand filter - too much aiir while vacuuming?

I also have the air problem. Pretty sure it is cause by a relief valve that is located on the water inlet and outlet valves. They look like little knobs with no apparent use. Their purpose is kid safety, allowing suction that could trap a child to be relieved. On my pool with a skimmer, there...

    Yippee! Year old water!

Managed to keep the same water for a year in my Intex type, even without a proper closing last fall! Yeah it was murky this spring, but with the knowledge so freely given here, I was able to clean up the swamp in short order, SLAM the fool out of it and get the water chemistry in order. Many...

Leslie's Pools says they cannot help me so I came here.

Dont use my formula, it is based on my pool and situation! Do the SLAM as advised! Looks like good numbers, so just concentrate on getting that debris out, as much as you can each day until the visibility is bad. With mine, it was 4 or 5 scoops of the net, since the debris had gathered together...

Leslie's Pools says they cannot help me so I came here.

My 15X42 was just like that a few weeks ago. Knowing my "formula" from last year, I started dumping bleach. Started off with 1 gal per thousand which is a little more than 4X the daily maintenance dose. I would spend a few minutes each day scooping, then run the filter for 4 hours. This...

    Too many frustrations

Yup, skimmer, 1600 or 2650gph sand filter/pump. I modded an Intex water hose vac to a "regular" vac using a sink drain pipe extension, and bought an 1 1/4 hose. I sealed off the water hose connection with epoxy. With my 1600 pump, vacuuming is easy.

    Chemical help on intex pool

When you adjust your TA, your PH will change some. If you add CYA, your TA will change some. Like I said, fine tuning, nothing to sweat, swim away!

    Chemical help on intex pool

According to the pool calculator, you should be shooting for 70-90+ TA, so keep easing it down. When that is set, go about adjusting the PH. The two are intertwined, so dont get ham-handed, just ease on into the right numbers. Fine tuning!

Summer Escapes 1000gph pump failure and replacement

Just completed the 1600 Sand Filter Pump install. It has been a few days since the last vacuum, and already the debris at the bottom of the pool has gathered in the center! Great flow! I used an adapter to allow the thru-wall skimmer that came with the pool, and used a hose adapter that came...

    Chemical help on intex pool

just about there! If your CYA dose in the sock is based on the 40 test {that is now 10}, you need to add the amount of CYA needed to bump it up for those extra 30 parts. Recalculate from a zero "now" and a 30 target, and add that to the sock. Keep up with the TA test for a week, and daily CL...

    Chemical help on intex pool

Stop the aeration, and go ahead and hang the CYA sock. Use the CYA dose the pool calculator gives based on the 40ppm test. If your strips are reading false and showing CYA where is none, that will show up as the CYA being a little low, and easily corrected. If you get too much CYA in the water...

    Chemical help on intex pool

I see no reason why you cant get in the pool at 160. Get the chlorine in the pool! Get your bee-hind in the pool. When you get out for the evening, walk around the pool a few fast laps and make a whirlpool. Get out and add dry acid and allow it to mix in. Repeat as you 'walk down' the TA over...

Of course it is never simple..

When it comes to teflon tape, there are 2 options. The white teflon tape is fairly universal, but there is a yellow version that is thicker. It is meant for gas line junctions.

    Chemical help on intex pool

I guess I will have to differ with the Pool School there. I much prefer to add exact amounts of what I need of only the ingredient I need. Kinda like taking a multi-symptom cough cold sinus medication...sure, you get what you need plus other stuff. I take the individual products as needed, not...

    Chemical help on intex pool

Why do you keep buying what they are selling? All you need is bleach, and the CYA that you already have, those are your immediate needs. Run the pool calculator with 1 on the CL line, add the prescribed bleach based on 3282 gallons. Want to go to shock level? Change the target to 15. I dont...

    Chemical help on intex pool

Are the walls and floor below the water line slick or sticky? Slick walls could be the start of a problem. You should be able to make the walls squeak rubbing your fingers on them, just like a balloon does. I dont think there has been enough time for anything to start up, but brushing it couldnt...

    Chemical help on intex pool

Once you get your TA in line, your PH will be out of whack. Pool calculator suggests it will need a lot of correction. Ignore the calcium test, has no effect on vinyl pools. I think I would drain it halfway and refill and retest. If you choose to keep the water, when you make the PH correction...

Summer Escapes 1000gph pump failure and replacement

I decided to check out the cause of failure. Took apart the GFCI plug, water inside. So much for the weatherproofing! Put a standard plug on and the pump fired up. This is good, now I can keep up with filtration and water flow while I wait for the new pump/filter. Or course, pump off when swimming!

Hello TFP! Starting our first little pool project...

The 42in depth pool is nice enough for adults, 30in might be a little shallow. Diazinon is available? Thought that was banned? Havent been able to get it around here for years! Too bad, that stuff works...
