    New plaster in existing pool

I am having my pool replastered and the water line tile replaced due to damage from hurricane Laura. The pool companies I have received quotes from all want to seek high dollar chemical startup packs. I don’t want to use these chemicals as I have had great success maintaining my pool through TFP...

    Thinking of replacing my pump

I currently have a 1hp Pentair Challenger pump for my 27,000 gallon pool. I’m starting to have some leaking issues and I rebuilt the impeller last year, so I’m thinking about replacing the pump with something more efficient to hopefully help on electrical bill. I was considering a VS pump, but...

CH levels low. Should I be worried?

Will do. My pH naturally climbs anyway so that won’t be a problem. Are there better options online for calcium chloride than at Lowe’s?

CH levels low. Should I be worried?

Just tested my pool. Results are below. FC - 6.5 CC - 0.5 pH - 7.4 CH - 200 CYA - 30 My concern is the low CH level for my gun nite pool. Should I raise it to recommended levels on pool math calculator? If so, what is the best source to acquire calcium chloride? I would need 25lbs.

Using Trichlor tabs to increase CYA

I have a bunch of unused trichlor tabs that I was thinking of using to bump up my CYA (currently 30) and as a stop gap while I’m on vacation. Is there any reason this is a bad idea?

    Cloudy water

Noticed this morning my pool was cloudy. 9’ deep and could barely see the bottom drain. Results from last test on Saturday (5/5) FC 2.5 pH 7.6 TA 90 CH 300 CYA 40 Tested FC on Wednesday and was down to .5 so decided to add enough to bump up to 8 as we are having a lot of swimming this...

    Filter Issues

Noticed something interesting about my filter this morning. Normal operating pressure is 15psi on the gauge. The pressure on it this morning was around 11psi. I noticed this because I figured it might be time to backwash. After backwashing my filter, the pressure came back up to 15psi. Is...

    Pool Stays Cloudy/Green

I do have my test kit and the numbers I gave regarding the CYA was a guess. Thanks for letting me know to round up. I will do that from now on. I started the SLAM process last night. According to my second CYA test, I was just below 50 so I rounded up to 50. I have been following the calculator...
