Taylor Chlorine test showing red bits

Why not just leave it open some tomorrow so the sun can break down the FC? Or also add some more water to dilute? It seems to me like it could get back to normal levels in a week or so

Taylor Chlorine test showing red bits

I usually have to add 3/4 to 1 cup of 6% bleach/day in order to keep my tub over 3 ppm FC. Yea I added a lot, but my tub usually eats up a good bit. IDK why. I keep everything in check for the most part and test daily. What do you think I damaged specifically? It seems to be functioning normally.

Taylor Chlorine test showing red bits

300 gallon hottub. The standard large Great Value jug from walmart. I just did the full on tf100 test with the powder and drops and it never even turned pink when I put in the powder which it states indicates zero chlorine lol. I have had slight issues with the accuracy of the tf100 chlorine...

Taylor Chlorine test showing red bits

Just got home from 7 day vacation. Pool tested fine. Hottub drop test turns red as soon as I put yellow drops in. Invert it and then becomes yellow with red chunks in it. Anyone with any clue what this is? I've never seen it before. I put an entire jug of bleach in it before I left which is a...

bioguard replacement reagents for Taylor test kit?

Good morning. I'm in a bit of a bind as I'm opening a new hot tub and need to test PH regularly, but have run out of phenol red reagent for PH. Normally I would order my replacements from this site, but I need them in a hurry. My local pool store only sells bio guard products so they have the...

    Stains/deformities in New plaster

Had my pool replastered three weeks ago. Sequestrant was added. TA and CH was low until I bumped them to 70 and 275 respectively yesterday. PH is 7.5, FC is 5, and CYA is 20. I've had a variety of markings, stains, and other blemishes appear over these last 3 weeks. I thought getting the CH and...

    tf100 TA test question

Good afternoon everyone. I use the TF100 test kit and have been using the TA test lately and need some clarification. The instructions say that you count the drops until the water turns "red". Mine never turns red. It turns light pink when it first turns and then if I add another drop it turns...

    New plaster chemical balance

TA is 20 this morning. I'm going to go ahead and add 8 pounds of baking soda and go from there. The CH is now at 200 and I just added another 5 pounds of CH increaser to bring it to 250-300. The first week of the new plaster I added a lot of MA and it made the PH reading yellow (I was guessing...

    New plaster chemical balance

Does it still make sense to add sequestrant when your water has low CH? Just looking back and thinking about it... seems like the sequestrant could make the problem worse if your water already has low CH.

    New plaster chemical balance

I have several more photos to share but this forum keeps giving me an error message even after I resized them repeatedly. Essentially other than the ones you've seen above, there are also some small streaky light rust colored spots. One of the more concerning spots is probably the size of...

    New plaster chemical balance

Those are some of the small gray streaking or scratchy looking marks. They laid a gray cement like under layer before laying the plaster so my first guess was it was just rubbed or scratched off in a few places but I can't say for sure obviously.

    New plaster chemical balance

The builder did add a start up dose of sequestrant (I did not see them do it but they showed me the empty bottle- Jack's Pink Stuff I believe). I have been using the blended brush that was left by the previous owners (Its probably 90/10 Nylon/Steel). The builder actually told me I could go...

    New plaster chemical balance

Thank you so much for the info! I also spoke to my builder. He told me to hold off on the TA but to go ahead and start bringing that CH up. I bought 35 pounds of increaser from Lowe's which is about how much I think I will need. The directions say to divide the dose in thirds and wait 6 hours...

    New plaster chemical balance

Hi everyone. I had my 30 year old gunite pool replastered 2.5 weeks ago. I had some issues in the beginning and spent the last two weeks getting the pH, CYA, and Chlorine established and brushing and backwashing. I felt ready today to do comprehensive testing. Results: FC 5.5 CC 0 CH 75 TA 30...

    leak- help!

Hi everyone. I bought a house with a 30 year old gunite pool. It was losing water but I just put up with it all last summer. Just had it replastered about 2.5 weeks ago and it appeared the pool guys had resolved the leak by rebuilding the plaster around the entrance to the skimmer and replacing...

    brush type for new plaster

Good afternoon. I had my pool replastered approx 2 weeks ago. I've been brushing daily with a blended brush. It's mostly nylon with a few metal bristles mixed in. I have been reading conflicting guidance about what brush I should be using. The plaster guys told me from Day 1 I was good to go...

    Starting up new plaster pool

Pool guys seem to think I must have a bunch of that old paint in my filter sand so it just keeps getting recirculated back into my new water. I am assuming I will have to deep clean or replace the sand in my filter and then replace the water in my pool. However it has only been a week since I...

    Starting up new plaster pool

Thanks for the info. it's actually been really cold here (in SC) since they plastered. A cold front came thru and there has been freeze warnings the last 3 nights. The pool guys said they were not concerned with algae right now bc of that. It moved out today tho. I have been looking at the new...

    Starting up new plaster pool

Good afternoon. I bought a house with a pool a year ago and the sellers laid some garbage paint over the plaster that rubbed off on everyone and made the water super milky and gross. So, I spent the off-season having it removed and new plaster put down. Well when the pool guys started up the...

    Pump stopped working

Good afternoon, all. So, about a week and a half ago, I cut on my old hayward super pump and the motor hummed for about 15 seconds and then just cut off without ever pumping water. I had noticed over the last few months that the motor would hum for like 5 seconds before it actually started...
