    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

My S200 recently died. It looks like the suction motor carbon brushes are worn out. I ordered some brushes on eBay that I can modify to fit and hopefully get it working again. In the mean time I purchased an Aiper Seagull 1500 on an Amazon deal. The Aiper vacuums the entire pool no problem but...

New pump and adding a heater

Hello, my pool is about forty years old. It's a 35,000 gallon vinyl liner and my family would like it heated. We've gone over the virtues of using the pool cover especially if we are going to be heating the pool. After getting the pool system upgraded the PVC will be painted and a vented cover...

What do I need for a Dolphin S200 tune up?

My S200 is three years old and has spent most of that time in the pool. I’ve been having an issue with it not climbing the walls well and the cord twisting up. The climbing issue may be due to the problem with the swivel getting stuck. I took the swivel apart, cleaned it out, and lubed the...

Getting started! Owner Build in SoCal

I’m curious to see how your retaining wall build works out as I have some of the same work to be done in my backyard in SoCal.

    Vinyl-covered step design help

We’re probably going to be redoing our vinyl pool next year. How do they do the tanning shelf so it’s not slick? The bottom of our vinyl pool would be kind of dangerous to stand on in shallow water.

That looks awesome! No idea on the slide though.

Diving Boards and Slides in SoCal

A friend of mine in Orange County finished a pool in the last few years with a rock water slide. I know when I bought our house the first question from the insurer was “do you have a diving board or water slide?”. If we did they weren’t going to carry our coverage.

    My first TF-100 results

Thank you for that info. I guessed at the CYA since at 30 I could see the dot but at 40 I definitely could not. I'll read up on the CSI.

    My first TF-100 results

Here we are a year later. The pool was using an abnormal amount of bleach and of course I was being lazy about my testing. After a full test it turns out the dilution due to rain and evaporation brought my CYA down to below 20. After adding 3.5 pounds of stabilizer here's where I'm at. 3...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

My S200 has no problem with my floating solar cover. I was concerned it would mess with the laser somehow but the robot seems to do just fine under the cover. It seems to be more thorough without the cover on but that's probably due to drag on the cord as it drives around. When it gets to the...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

S200 works great in my 45x20 pool. The S300 includes the caddy so if you have to go a long way from the storage shed to the pool it might be a good idea. Other than the caddy the S200 & s300 are identical.

If I was eligible for a rebate on my S200 purchase from Marina should I have received a code from them or a mail in form?

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

My S200 was "launched" in the pool for the first time today. I'm impressed by the speed and the cleaning ability. The hardware seems pretty robust as well. So far I love it and the kids think the robot is the coolest. Emptying the filter basket for the first time was eye opening, I didn't...

I just ordered my S200 with the pre-filter basket. I'm really looking forward to easier maintenance after servicing my DE filter today.

I'm thinking of ordering the S200 or S300 tomorrow for my 45x20 in ground vinyl pool tomorrow. I get the advantage of the cart since it sounds like these robots are heavy but I do have a similar yard cart. I'm not going to leave it in the water all the time so I don't think the scheduling would...

    2018 Bleach Prices

Re: Liquid Chlorine Prices I found the same 6% Clorox at my local Costco today in California. I ended up going to HD to buy their pool chlorine which is 10% for $3.05 a gallon when you buy 8 gallons at a time.

Warning for solar covers and pets

Sorry for the loss of your dog. My brother fell in to a pool with a solar cover when we were kids. Luckily someone saw him and jumped in to pull him out. The first day our current pool had the solar cover our dog thought it was solid and fell in when he tried to step on it. Luckily we were...

Vacuum head designed for concrete on vinyl pool?

I use something like the green one on my in ground vinyl liner pool. I haven't had any issues with it but am considering a robot.

Can our vinyl pool be re-shaped?

No I realize the current liner will need to be replaced. Those are all good questions. Finding good fill dirt won't be too difficult but I see how it comes down to how the fill is put in. It seems that there isn't a lot of experience with vinyl pool liners in this area. At least people don't...

Can our vinyl pool be re-shaped?

We have a very large vinyl pool in our yard (20x45' rectangle). The pool was installed 40 years ago and the liner replaced about 5 years ago. Since our yard is 60' wide this doesn't leave a lot of other room in the yard for the kids to run around. We are having our yard re-designed for either...

How much time do robot cleaners save?

I also have a vinyl 20x45 pool and am interested in a robot. I think I may be buying one at the start of the next pool season. Currently I spend a couple hours a week vacuuming and brushing.

Got a good deal on a Pentair Intelliflo 011018

I'm interested to see the cost savings over your old pump. I have a 2hp single speed Century pump that I run 4 hours a day and would like to upgrade to a 011018. Partly to save some power but also to connect Timmy solar controller and reduce the noise. Currently I think I'm at about 8kw going to...

Solar heater panel tube leak repair and do I need a vacuum break valve?

I still haven't installed the VRV. I know I need to get it done but I've been a little busy with other projects. I did repair my leak with F4 tape. My understanding is the name comes from the tape being used on the wiring harnesses on the F4 Phantom. It fuses to itself when stretched but...

    Skimmer clogged

The drain king worked when my skimmer was clogged with leaves. Someone hooked the vacuum directly to the pump intake at the bottom of the skimmer. Luckily the folks here were able to set me up with the right adapter for the skimmer basket.

    DIY Solar Cover Roller

My pool is nearly the same size at 20x45 and the roll does tend to get uneven but not so much that I can't roll it. My roller is at the end of the cover. Is yours in the middle? I plan on putting a roller at each end with a rope that has hooks. I can then roll and unroll the covers more easily.

Solar heater panel tube leak repair and do I need a vacuum break valve?

I found this diagram on the Solar Direct site for the breaker valve. They also had the repair kit. According to FAFCO my panels have a 12 year warranty but I don't have the receipt since they were installed by the previous owner.
