Using Pool Math to add Chlorine to Bromine pool

Recently switched to bromine since my swim spa can sit unused for up to a week while traveling. Was using MPS as an oxidizer but recently switched to bleach. Trying to calculate how much bleach to use to raise bromine levels. I know that I calculate bromine levels by calculating my free...

How to maintain pH and total alkalinity in hot tub

I switched over my swim spa to Bromine and can't be happier. Maintaining bromine at 3-4 with a floater. I purchased MPS for shock after heavy pool use (2 people exercising) but wondering if I should switch to Cl instead. I was having problems with high pH but now my pH is dipping to 7-7.2...

    Debating between chlorine and bromine...

On another thread you suggested that I should be careful with bleach with copper in the water. Is the CYA or sodium hypochlorite that I need to worry about? If it is any of these, wouldn't bromine be a better option?

    Debating between chlorine and bromine...

I've had my swim spa (1500 gallon)for about 4 weeks now and realized about a week into it not to trust the advice I received at my spa dealer! They were asking me to shock my pool each week with Dichlor, and now my CYA level is between 50-60. I do seem to need a lot of dichlor on a regular...

Best way to use DiChlor in swim spa

Went to the spa store where they have electronic testing: Ph 7.9 Cl: 0.23 Ca: 200 Alk:100 Cu: 0.1 The copper is in the normal range so I assume that chlorine bleach would be OK. I'm concerned about how quickly I am going through chlorine and how often I have to add acid. Chlorine level...

Best way to use DiChlor in swim spa

Reading the article, it certainly looks like I need to add chlorine almost on a daily basis, and "shock" the pool once a week. Need to pick up some bleach! About the spa manager, here's what it contains: Simple Blue Spa Manager is a simple once a week treatment all in 1 bottle! Water...

Best way to use DiChlor in swim spa

Thank you! The spa manager has a non-chlorine oxidizer so perhaps that may be interfering with the test. I was just confirming that it was not normal for the color to change over time.

Best way to use DiChlor in swim spa

New to the forum and to owning a swim spa (1500 gallons): Purchased a Dynasty swim spa from my local dealer. They recommended the "Simple Blue" spa system which consists of adding 7.5 Oz of "Spa Manager" and 5 Oz "Power Boost" (AKA DiChlor 56% Cl-) each week. With this method, my FCl would...

    Timing for free chlorine test

Yes, I have the Taylor FAS-DPD and I do think the drop counting method is the most precise. The problem with the Color Q is that the color can change quite dramatically over 20-30 seconds. Are you saying the increased pink color over time is not expected?

    Timing for free chlorine test

New swim spa owner and first forum post... Having a lot of trouble figuring out my free chlorine level. I have tried test strips and a taylor test kit and now I am using Lamotte ColorQ (all DPD tests). Everything has been quite consistent except free chlorine determination. For each testing...
