    Suction pressure

Thanks for reaching out, Jim. Our current pump schedule is from 5 am -10 am and 3 pm -7 pm daily. We ran if for 12 concurrent hours up until about 2 weeks ago. We have 2 skimmers and 5 returns. Our filter pressure is 20psi at 3000rpm. I'm trying to post pics of the equipment pad, give me...

    Suction pressure

So, I've kind of asked about this before but, I've gotten so many different responses from TFP and other long time multiple pool owners that I'm feeling iffy on what to do. Our new pool was finished the first week of March. Everything was great for about a week. Then the pool started to lose...

Re: Best part of "Just Getting Started" is the first day in the pool. Dallas suburbs. Oh my goodness! Super Bowl Sunday would be amazing in a pool...My parents had a solar cover on their pool when I was growing up but we lived on Long Island so, it was basically a necessity if you wanted to...

Re: Best part of "Just Getting Started" is the first day in the pool. Dallas suburbs. Hi Neighbor! I'm right next door in Little Elm! I'm so glad that you are getting to enjoy yours today, as well. What temp do you have it heated to? The cost you laid out is very reasonable. I have no idea what...

Best part of "Just Getting Started" is the first day in the pool. Dallas suburbs. First time pool owner this year, build was finished the beginning of March and, today was my first day in the pool. Granted, I've technically been in the pool already but, only after I was overheated from the spa...

I'm not a stupid person, I just play one on TFP. A story of a check valve.

Thanksn Gwegan! They just installed the check valve yesterday but, I agree there is likely still a leak. I didn't think the Top 50 list was an award just a list based on volume of sales. Am I mistaken? Thanks for your feedback. I will definitely ask for an airtight test to be done. Can you tell...

Thank you, Patrick. This is all such a mystery... My PB is rated in the top 25 of the Top 50 USPB lists. I never dreamed that we would be having these types of issues.

We did ask about replacing the pump, you already know how that goes, they said with the automatic shut off for emergencies, it shouldn't matter. I will look into that from other avenues. Pressure is reading them same, strangely.

First of all Kim, if I could, let me say that your badge designation on here should be changed from 'Moderator' to 'Oracle' for your thoughtful advice and time spent. I see you really trying to help everyone that comes into this forum. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who is so appreciative of...

Thank you, Yippee. Any support, is positive support, when navigating 'new waters'. I appreciate your intel. I don't even remember talking about the ozonater when we were in the planning stage. So many things that I wish we had done and so many that I wish we hadn't. Live and learn. Thank you for...

Thank you for your response. I agree. It seems unlikely . The tech also replaced an '$8 seal' in the pump that he said was likely damaged by the pump running dry but, I'm wondering if perhaps that seal (not the o-ring) was damaged or not fitting properly beforehand and maybe that was the culprit.

I'm not a stupid person, I just play one on TFP. A story of a check valve.

Ugh. So, guys, it's been a rough week for this first time new pool owner and it continues. The pump failed to self prime last Saturday morning and ran dry for 4 or 5 hours as best we can figure. Supposedly, it has a censor that shuts itself off before too much damage can be done but, who really...

    Green Pool.

I stopped by Wal-Mart after a late night at work, to pick up some 'chemicals' for the new pool so that it could get it's first, real ph adjustment. When I arrived home, my pool was totally green. After a horrified minute, I remembered that it's St. Patrick's Day, and it was just the green lights...

    Any tips before Orientation?

Sadly, I don't love it at night. The landscape lights around the pool and decking help a lot but, we should have put in a light on the tanning ledge. I wish the PB had mentioned doing that. There are 3 lights along one side of the pool and another in the spa but, none of that light makes it to...

    Any tips before Orientation?

Thank you, Kim! I DID know that I could help support the group and have been planning a contribution but no, I didn't realize that I would get discounts for doing so. That's even more awesome!:) I am happy to contribute to such a helpful group and I am so grateful to everyone. It has been kind...

I was never OCD until I had a pool...

Oh, that was SO tempting as an option! If we had only had been standing on principle, we'd have chosen the same route. However, the ground that we stood upon was a pile of our hard worked for money and the builder wanted an extra $3,000+ to dig with the smaller equipment so, in the end, we...

For this space, we are almost neighbors! Thanks for the kind words and for introducing yourself, we might have to start a DFW TFP meet up for all of our local members, or a 'round robin grill out' where we all go to somebody's pool for a swim and dinner! Whadda ya think about THAT?:paddle:

    Any tips before Orientation?

Yes, that's what I thought. I guess what I'm looking for is, when he says "you need to use these Triclor tabs" or some other product that they sell and I say "no, I don't", how do I combat his sales pitch because, although I feel like I grew up testing the pool chemistry with my Dad, I really...

    Any tips before Orientation?

So, the build is done, the pool is full, and start up is scheduled for tomorrow. Last step is Orientation and since I've read a lot of the Pool School threads and watched A LOT of videos, I'm wondering what to be mindful of during that phase. My PB has a retail store and so, I'm sure that I...

    Happy 10th Birthday TFP

Happy Birthday, TFP! I'm a new pool owner, just finished filling today, and throughout the build, I've come to this forum many, many times. The only thing that could have made it better is if I had known about it before my build. There's so much great information on here and I really appreciate...

Thank you, Triptyx, I will do that. Please forgive my newbie-ness, this is the first forum I've ever joined, in the history of 'The Internets'. :D TFP was too excellent a source of information to let me stay in my non-forum comfort zone!
