    Cleaning Kool Deck

I did. Did not find much beyond what I had already tried. Pressure wash, Wet & Forget, scrubbing, etc. Was hoping someone had some (literal) special sauce that would knock this out.

    Cleaning Kool Deck

My pool was installed 9 years ago. It was and is my first pool, and while I educated myself on overall project cost, I just rolled with my contractor’s defaults in terms of decking, which was Kool Deck. I am fine with the Kool Deck, other than cleaning it. We have a large wooded lot, and we...

    The weirdest stain….

    Thanks again.

    The weirdest stain….

Thx. Like...crushed up vitamin C tablets? I hope it's just organic. 🤞 Seems so weird that it happened so quickly, and it's never happened before.

    The weirdest stain….

Thx. I have some rare-earth magnets on hand. My wife held a stack of them against all areas of the stain, and she reported no sticking at all.

    The weirdest stain….

…or maybe not-so-weird to the more experienced hands here. Gunite pool, using Nature2 (yes, I know). Had this pool for almost ten years. The plaster and paint are mottled, to be sure, but the surface is still smooth and uniform. Within the last 24 hours, this stain appeared out of nowhere on...

Multiple upgrades, but all stem from SWG conversion

I had my pool built back in 2013. I read up on them to make myself an educated buyer, but even then, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. So when I asked my contractor about a SWG, he dismissed it with the “corrosion” objection (we live in SE Louisiana). I wasn’t knowledgable enough to feel like...

    Bug-proof outdoor storage?

I suppose I could store a body AND towels in it, and also use it as a seat…….🤔

    Bug-proof outdoor storage?

Was wondering if anyone could recommend some sort of bug-proof outdoor storage solution for towels? We have several Suncast storage boxes for the cleaning robot, noodles, toys, etc., but is there anything designed to be sufficiently sealed to keep bugs out? I know you can buy storage...

Standard plaster is eight years old - what to upgrade to?

Thanks. All of the browsing I'd been doing suggested 8-10 years for standard plaster. If I knew it was going to give up the ghost in a few years, I'd resurface. But if I know it has a decent chance of lasting another 8-10 years, yeah, I'd go a different route.

Standard plaster is eight years old - what to upgrade to?

Thanks, I know of it, but haven't really looked at it closely. I am in a position where I can handle the upgrade cost to some form of aggregate, and I know I am going to do it eventually. I figure why not just do it now and get it squared away vs. kicking the can down the road, y'know? It...

Standard plaster is eight years old - what to upgrade to?

My pool was installed in 2013 with plain old dove-grey marcite plaster. Over the years, the plaster color has become mottled and streaky, though I don’t know if it’s due to my water chemistry, or if the plaster hadn’t cured properly before the pool was filled or what. Regardless, it doesn’t...

Just used my K-2006 for the first time

And I have to say that the results are not that far off what what Leslie's reported in my last in-store test. Not sure if there's a way to display my test results from the app directly into a post, but here they are: FC 6.0 CC 0.5 pH 7.3 TA 70 CH 240 CYA 40 Temp 84F CH and pH are a little...

    Cleaning mold/mildew/grime off Kool Deck

Thanks! Did you use it on a preventative basis, or only after the deck got dirty? If the latter, how long did it take before you started noticing results?

    Cleaning mold/mildew/grime off Kool Deck

Our pool was installed back in '13, with a light tan Kool Deck perimeter around it. I've scrubbed the deck on a seasonal basis to keep it from getting slippery, but over time the little nooks and recessed areas of the Kool Deck stamping have collected a good amount of dirt, mold and mildew (I...

Any reviews yet on the new Polaris Quattro?

My booster pump just failed and my Kreepy Krauly is six years old, so I opted to switch up to a robot. I've only run it a few times, and it seems to do a very efficient job. However, the idea of something "self-contained" inside the pool with no cables snaking across the deck and no control...

    Marina Pool & Spas question

Still $699. My pool maintenance service said they could not come close to touching that price. It seems to be at least $250 cheaper than any other place I've found. Not sure how Marina does it.

    Marina Pool & Spas question

I got a hold of her on the phone, calling right at opening just as you suggested. Super-nice and the S200 got here really quick. Not sure how or why the communication broke down, but she said my e-mails "probably got buried somewhere".

    Marina Pool & Spas question

I don't understand it then. Business must be really good if they don't have to reply to eager customers.

    Marina Pool & Spas question

I might need to revise my comment. Margaret replied promptly at first, but when I asked her (twice) to send me an invoice so I could make the purchase, the replies stopped. I even left a VM at the store today asking them to call me to complete the sale. I don't think I've ever had as hard of...

    Robotic Cleaners

I understand. I myself don't like seeing ugly cords running out of my pool and across my deck. The way things are set up in my backyard, there is no really discreet way to run the cord from the pool to the control box and then to a GFI outlet. It'll all be pretty much front-and-center. I...

    Robotic Cleaners

I’m on the cusp of making the change myself. For those folks who once had a suction- or pressure-side vacuum, and switched to a robot, do you ever miss having the pool cleaner kind of “self-contained” in the pool itself, with no cords running out of the pool and no control unit to protect from...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Tempting, but I’d be too worried that if something went wrong, Maytronics wouldn’t honor the warranty since I’d be a second-hand buyer who didn’t purchase through an authorized dealer.
