Place the solar cover under the safety cover?

It is really more a matter of storage to be honest. My safety cover needs to go under my reel and if it is not an issue having the solar cover on the pool for the winter then it's a plus! My safety cover does let in leaves and debris when the wind kicks up, my thought is this may create a...

Place the solar cover under the safety cover?

I have an inground 18x36 pool in tennessee where the winter temps are fairly mild with a few weeks in the teens. I have a solar cover and a safety cover... my question is; Would it be a good idea to place the solar cover under the safety cover or on the reel for the winter? My initial...

    No FC - frustrated!

Success!!! Although we do not have a test kit that registers over 5PPM we went ahead and added an additional 11.36gal of 6% bleach. This morning we had a FC and TC of @ 5PPM which gave us a CC of 0PPM ... though a bit hesitant to celebrate we were happy to see improvement. Being a hot sunny day...

    No FC - frustrated!

If I understand this correctly, I am to start with an initial dose to bring it to 28, then use the additional bottles to maintain every hour along with testing until I reach the desired numbers... Correct?

    No FC - frustrated!

Test Kit ... we have been using shocks (chlorine and non-chlorine at shock levels) and have just recently tried plain chlorine bleach to see if that works. Given the prior results how many gallons of bleach should we shock with at 6% sodium hypochlorite to try and rectify the problem? The pool...

    No FC - frustrated!

A little background first is in order... We have an inground 22,500gal w/SWG, sand filter and a vynil liner and are located outside Nashville, TN. Last year we converted to a SWG and had the best experiance ever!!! Highly recommended! Our costs were minimal and our testing barely wavered at all...

What not to do $$$ Conversion to SWG

In conclusion, It has now been quite some time since my last post, but I wanted to follow up and give thanks. Since my last post I had only added 2 additional pounds of Fresh and Clear shock by Leslies pool. I believe that if I had listened to the salesman from the beginning (yeah, I know ... no...

What not to do $$$ Conversion to SWG

Alright ... here goes! Last night @ 7:30PM I added 5 gallons of bleach to bring my FC level to 15ppm. I waited 2 hrs and rechecked my levels ... keep in mind that I do not have a proper test kit as of yet and am using a standard DPD test. My free chlorine tested at what looked like it could be...

What not to do $$$ Conversion to SWG

Given the current numbers and using the pool calculator, would it be safe to start hitting it with bleach tonight to start maintaining 15ppm until I receive the test on Tues.? I will still get readings from Leslies as a reference until then.

What not to do $$$ Conversion to SWG

Ok ... now since fixing the valeve and verifying that it was only pulling at best 25% from the bottom (or may have even been plugged), the chemical cocktail that was in the deep end has been circulating approximately 2hrs, the greenish color has disipated greatly and here are my readings. Please...

What not to do $$$ Conversion to SWG

Just an FYI update ... Taking all into consideration, I have decided to remove some water by backwashing since my pressure was a bit high. I have also taken the 3" pucks out of the system entirely. While doing these things I remembered that I wanted to check how my inlet valve worked so I...

What not to do $$$ Conversion to SWG

Ok, just to re-cap ... My current test kit goes up to a reading of 5, to test for 15ppm FC my best ratio would be 1 part pool water to 2 parts distilled, mutiply the results by three ... correct?

What not to do $$$ Conversion to SWG

Somehow, I knew that response ... LOL What is your opinion on using the remainder of the Dichlor shock and 3" trichlor tablets? Are they adding too much CYA that is in turn inhibiting the added chlorine, or am I confused?
