How much fade expected with new vinyl liner?

It's a LoopLoc 28mm liner. Yes, fade is at the former water line - we've had a lot of rain so the water level was higher than usual for a few weeks.

How much fade expected with new vinyl liner?

Hi all, We had our liner replaced in May of 2021. We're in Central North Carolina, and our pool is in direct sun most of the day. The liner is a 28mm looploc. I keep the pool balanced using a Taylor test kit and liquid chlorine. We close the pool in October and open it up in May. I'm noticing...

Replacing liner before or after closing

We do seem to have a leak...when we opened this year, the pool was about two feet lower than it should have been. We siliconed the spots we thought were most likely leaking, and haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary since. I do think we'll still end up waiting until the spring, but...

Replacing liner before or after closing

Hi there everyone! Looking for thoughts on my current situation. My in ground vinyl liner is needing to be replaced. Should I replace now before closing? Or should I wait until the spring and open up early to replace it? Does it matter either way? I'm in Central NC if that matters. Thanks!

Issues with air in pump basket after new VS pump and filter installed

Pool store came back out and re-glued some of the connections, there is now no air coming through. They still didn't install the unions that you mentioned even though I put the unions right by the pump. Sigh. No one cares about your stuff as much as you do....I'm really starting to understand...

Issues with air in pump basket after new VS pump and filter installed

What do you mean exactly? I don't know what unions would be. This was the recommended pump, and they didn't replace much plumbing while installing it. Also didn't install it to anything secure...

Issues with air in pump basket after new VS pump and filter installed

Same issue shows up on recirculation setting. I'm gonna call the installer but also see if I can find the leaks myself. My guess is that it wouldn't hurt to replace all the plumbing in here. Video: New video by Christopher Peterson

Issues with air in pump basket after new VS pump and filter installed

Jim, Thanks for your reply, what exactly do you mean by the filter not passing the water and the pump cavitating? On a side note I really need to look at what the inside of a filter looks like as I feel like that'd help me understand.

Issues with air in pump basket after new VS pump and filter installed

Gotcha. Well looks like I'll be doing some troubleshooting this evening. Thanks for the tips! I'll keep you updated. I hope it's not something leaking that's beyond my control...as this pool is estimated to be 30 years old, and uses the black piping underground, which I'm told isn't used at all...

Issues with air in pump basket after new VS pump and filter installed

Interesting...I had the local pool store install it so I could get an energy rebate, but I don't see any water leaking anywhere...I guess I should do the soap test? Is it normal for the pump basket to not be completely full of water at lower RPMs?

Issues with air in pump basket after new VS pump and filter installed

I recently had my single speed pump and old sand filter replaced with a VS Pentair pump and a Hayward sand filter. There would usually be bubbles in the old pump basket, but I figured it was due to the age (>15 years old). With the new pump and filter installed, I was able to start using low rpm...

Have Test Kit, CYA Levels Sky High

Hello everyone! It's been a bit since my first post, and I'm much less nervous about everything now, as I feel I have a handle on the situation. Seems that the previous pool owner only used chlorine pucks, and while his water was crystal clear, the cya levels were through the roof, and I'm sure...

    New to pools, feeling overwhelmed

OK. So how would I drain the pool for when it goes below the skimmer line? Isn't that bad for the pump since it won't get water? And is that OK to do in a vinyl pool? As I read that the weight of the water is what keeps everything tight Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

    New to pools, feeling overwhelmed

Ok, so just did my first test with the taylor kit, and here are the results: FC: 5.2 CC: None pH: 7.4 TA: 80 CH: 220 CYA: Over 100 Looks like you guys were right about those chlorine tablets! My CYA level is sky high, so what should I do with that? Also, when I hook up the vacuum, do I need...

    New to pools, feeling overwhelmed

Totally understand! I had no idea that the tablets raised the CYA levels, so it makes a lot of sense to get bleach. Should I just stop using the tablets all together? The chlorinator is in-line, so I can't remove it easily unfortunately, but I suppose if I just stop giving it tablets the water...

    New to pools, feeling overwhelmed

Awesome, thank you! I will get the test results this afternoon and take some pictures to let everyone know what's going on. So I would need normal bleach even with the chlorine being auto fed with tablets? Thanks again! Already liking the community here :D

    New to pools, feeling overwhelmed

Hello everyone! Even after all of the research I've done, I still feel terribly overwhelmed with the pool at the house I moved into. The previous owner seemed to keep it in good shape, although all of the equipment is very old, so one of my priorities is getting a new variable speed pump. It's...
