Temp too cold for pool cleaner?

Update: I did hear back from Marina; they are saying that there is a short somewhere in the wire that runs in the cable that connects the control panel to the cleaner. They are still maintaining that there can be issues with the sensor when the water temp is in the low 50’s based on guidance...

Temp too cold for pool cleaner?

Just heard back from Marina, who heard back from Maytronics: Maytronics indicated pool temps in the low 50 degrees can trigger the sensor so they just want us to get that one back and test it to see if it is the software or if there is something else going on. If it is defective, we will send...

Temp too cold for pool cleaner?

Thanks for responding! The only reference I can find to temps in the manual that was shipped states under the troubleshooting section “Cleaner does not climb walls” is that “Ideal water temperature between 54-90F.” I’m also concerned I might not even be able to confirm if the unit works for a...

Temp too cold for pool cleaner?

Just unboxed a brand new Warrior SI and put it in the pool. Power supply works, but pool cleaner won’t move. Indicator light won’t come on. Called Marina, who I purchased it from and they said pool cleaners won’t work when water temp is less than 54 degrees (they are confirming the temp). Is...

Yes, impeller is clear and machine can still climb walls; that’s all it seems to do unfortunately.

    Doheny Discovery troubleshooting

I’ve had The Dohenny Discovery for about 4 years. Lately it is not cleaning the pool. The impeller is clear, the filter basket is empty. Initially I thought it wasnt able to pick up debris and another user here suggested that the drain flap might have been warped. That appeared to be true, so I...

    Doheny Discovery Robot troubleshooting

I have owned the Doheny Discovery since Summer 2016. It’s been good to us; we replaced the motor (covered under 2 year warranty) about 18 months in and haven’t had any trouble from it since. Lately though, it’s not picking up debris. It can move around the pool just fine, but the filter basket...

Does high pH inhibit chlorine effectiveness?

I’m on Day 4 of SLAMming my pool. At the start of the SLAM, I adjusted my pH, as recommended, to 7.2. My CYA level is 30, so my target SLAM level is 12, which I’ve been maintaining. The pool water looks really good but I do still have some stubborn spores of mold on the plaster, and I’ve yet to...

    Doheny Discovery

I've had my Dohenny Discovery for about a year and am now having a problem with it. When I turn it on it lights up on the control panel and the robot does too in the pool. Then it rolls about 6 inches and shuts off. I've made sure I have enough line in the water, the unit is clean. I even...

Has anyone ever used this vendor before? They have a good price on a pool pump I am considering purchasing but I feel funny making a major purchase from a company that I found in a google search.

Was Recomended a Specific Replacement Pump - does it seem reasonable?

WoodyP I'm pretty certain you are right. Upon closer inspection, there appear to be wiring instructions on the sticker as well and they seem to indicate that you have to wire it one way for 115v or another way for 230v.

Was Recomended a Specific Replacement Pump - does it seem reasonable?

Jim, I had no idea about the waterfall impacting pH! I do add muriatic acid pretty regularly. Now that I know there's a downside I'll be turning it off :). Thank you!

Was Recomended a Specific Replacement Pump - does it seem reasonable?

we pretty much run the waterfall when we run the filter, for no reason other than we have never turned the valve to shut it off. We aren't tied to having it run that long. I'd be happy enough just running it occassionally.

Was Recomended a Specific Replacement Pump - does it seem reasonable?

JoyfulNoise, Tim and others, thanks for posting. My father in law is going to help me with either the pump or motor replacement. He's rebuilt a few pumps and motors before so we will be going the kinda DIY route

Was Recomended a Specific Replacement Pump - does it seem reasonable?

Jim, appreciate your point of view and insights. I hired the repairman to repair the leak in the pump. My understanding from snooping around the forum was that it would be an easy fix, should be low cost. He told me it would likely cost $500 at a minimum to fix and recomended the new variable...

Was Recomended a Specific Replacement Pump - does it seem reasonable?

Bobodaclown, because I wasn't even aware that was an option! I'm excited to consider this option and glad you pointed it out. We have only owned a pool for the past 6 months (it came with the house we bought and everything I know about I learned from here or Google). Please don't take for...

Was Recomended a Specific Replacement Pump - does it seem reasonable?

Our single speed pump has started leaking. We can probably fix it quite easily, but reviewed the operating costs of the pump and have opted instead to upgrade the pump to a vs model. We had a technician provide a bid and make a recommendation on which pump to install. We were pretty shocked...

expected lifespan and ease of maintenance for vs pump

Feeling much more persuaded to make this purchase. Even if it failed in 3 years (unlikely) it would have paid for itself at least twice, and likely more due to the likelihood of power costs to creep upwards. Thank you for responding and the HEPD80 recommendation!

expected lifespan and ease of maintenance for vs pump

I'm doing a cost benefit analysis of replacing my pool pump. I have a Hayward 1.5 hp single speed super ll at the moment that has a small leak. My father in law has rebuilt a few pumps and is confident he can help me repair it, so we would only be out by the cost of the parts. He could also...

Pool turned green after heavy rain

Update: that was not algae after all. It appears I have a drainage issue just to the right side of my pool. Groundwater is collecting and overflowing into the pool. I was lucky to be home this afternoon during a quick but heavy downpour and saw the pool turning brown in the area of concern...

Add DE After failure to prime?

Our pool pump is on a timer. We have had a few instances where the pump has failed to prime at start up. I'm pretty sure the failures occurred after we have cleaned out the pump basket, so we are being extra careful now to clean it out, fill with water and start the pump afterwards to make...

Pool turned green after heavy rain

Update. And follow up question. Pool | Flickr the pool is back to beautiful. I held the chlorine to 20+ ppm overnight. About 10 hours into SLAMMING the filter pressure jumped way up so I was backwashing the filter at midnight last night. ;) Woke up this morning and it looks almost...
