    Bleach Alternative

Just wanted to thank everyone especially for the alternative suggestion I was able to remove the pucks before CYA really raised and found chlorinating liquid the other day. All the debris from the winter is out of the pool and I’m in the middle of SLAM. Everything is right with my pool world...

    Bleach Alternative

Usually I’d follow that motto opened up to a green swamp and panicked knowing I didn’t have my usual tools. Regretting that now I’ll try to get a test in tomorrow been crazy busy at work until the weekend as I am involved with making some ppe products.

    Bleach Alternative

So I am in NY getting ready to sell my house in a month just opened my pool yesterday to a green monster. Lots more leaves then usual got underneath the loop loc cover this year. Usually not a big concern as if just clean and slam. Working on cleaning still but it’s green and I’m on day 2 I...

    Landscaping costs

We did a waterfall and a nice pool deck of pavers. All in all that alone was 36k with the pool being 36k itself. I always figure to have it professionally done you will roughly double the cost if you are adding comparable features. The pool deck and landscaping is likely more important then the...

    Outdoor Speaker Questions

Thanks for all the input. I ended up going with 2 Sonos connect amps for 4 Bose free space speakers, 2 in planters next to the pool on either side of the waterfall and 2 in planters beside the house off the patio. Not the cheapest solution by any means but half a day of trenching and I am very...

    Outdoor Speaker Questions

Yea I’m still on the fence with placement between my pool and house I have a small 3 ft section of grass so not an optimal spot for a speaker as it will just make for an awkward trip spot

    Outdoor Speaker Questions

So I plan on running speaker wire next weekend for some speakers on either side of our pools waterfall. For aesthetic reasons I was thinking some kind of rock speaker but I am open to just about anything. We have 2 large planters on either side. Does anyone have any suggestions for rock...

Adding a hot tub to existing fiberglass pool

Sundancer is decent if you can budget in 20 grand you can get a very nice one get a nice pad underneath and get one of those cabana covers that comes down and closes up for you which makes keeping it warm in the winter a breeze

Adding a hot tub to existing fiberglass pool

To add it on your much better off just getting a stand alone tub. You can use it when you close your pool still and they are a lot more comfortable with a lot more features

    Pool House Questions

From a monetary standpoint you can never really justify a pool let alone a pool house. But if you want it and can afford it then go for it. Don’t forget you can’t take your money to the grave with you and you make it so you can spend it and enjoy it. Just my .02

Planning a pool renovation & feeling overwhelmed

The only thing I will chime in on is the salt. I have a new steel wall pool and pavers on concrete decking and I didn't hesitate to me it sounds like salt is perfect for you especially so that you can go away and not worry

New construction Long Island...Pavers on concrete NOW no wait for settle?

Quite frankly on concrete near a pool just have them lock in the borders and do nothing for the interior less polysand or sand tracking into your pool that's how mine is love it sooo much more then pools with polysand or sand and it's not necessary in concrete

New construction Long Island...Pavers on concrete NOW no wait for settle?

Re: New construction Long Island...Pavers on concrete NOW no wait for settle? ElBeef, I am in Manorville, my soil is clay as far as the eye can see though so settling is less of an issue for me then say those who have sand. With that said. I poured 4" concrete after about a month and 2 years...

    New Oasis on Long Island

Looks great. Good old New York. I know I had some wooden steps off my house that was there from the builder and just to remove those and add a concrete paver step I had to get a permit. The rediculous things we deal with on LI.

    A Colleagues Pool

Ok so the Vitamin C and crush up is the plan so far. At this point as for lowering the CYA I meant mostly once we drain the pool after lifting the stain to dilute how much si still in there.

    A Colleagues Pool

Ok so this mornings update. The pool has been crystal clear for awhile. No more chlorine pucks or any of that nonsense. It is finally dropping down from SLAM levels and FC is 13.0 this morning. It is going to be a sunny day today so I have him adding a jug in when he gets home tonight and...

    A Colleagues Pool

Been a good few days for his pool. This morning test was 25.5 FC last night was 26.0 FC, The CC was 0.5 and 0.5, so the OFCLT has been passed. Letting it drift down this weekend then will do a full test and get the normal chemistry under control. The green stain is a lot lighter and it comes up...

He's going to just use bleach for the rest of this year and then next year if he can switch over to swg and supplement with bleach. I think he's going to buy the kit next year but who knows I'm just trying to help out where I can. He doesn't have a smart phone and can't use excel so unless he...

    A Colleagues Pool

FC this morning was at 23.0 after putting 3 and a half jugs in yesterday. Having him change to 5 jugs today as something is eating that chlorine up. Pool is getting clearer. My colleague is starting to get very impatient. Not sure given the frequency I can test how long this is going to take.

Yes I already have the jacks magic test kit and going to leave it in his hands at that point but can't use that until the water chemistry is leveled off to normal swimable levels.

    A Colleagues Pool

The latest is the FC dropped down to 20.5 I had him putting 2 cups of 8.25% bleach in everyday over the weekend except today. I was quite surprised to see it go so low, but he said the water is very clear now and the stain on the bottom is a lot lighter. Also even though the dry acid scrub...

    A Colleagues Pool

Latest results are FC 34.5 He is getting discouraged though as he hasn't seen any clarity increase and the pool is still cloudy. I am telling him to bear with it. I adjusted down telling him to put an 1/8th jug in a day now over the weekend and keep backwashing brushing and vacuuming. He's...
