    Enjoying our trouble free pool

I have really enjoyed the pride and satisfaction of learning to care for my pool. I get complements all the time on its clarity. Every time I go to the pool store I hear someone's story of algee and their frustration with their pool service. I offer to help and give reference to this forum but I...

Submersible pump left a rust stain.

Didn’t expect my submersible pump to leave a rust stain. Kind of bummed out because my plaster is less than two years old.

    Sump pump on/off question

So I bought the little giant No. 6 series 1/3 hp pump. It comes with a float switch but I determined the pool level would have to rise and fall about 6 inches to activate the switch. This much travel to activate the switch is way too much. I want to pump water out of my pool when the level rises...

Palaro's filter canister cracked, on the verge of catastrophic failure

My Pentair filter canister CCP 420 has a crack and leaking water. I think it's about 14 years old. Obviously needs to be replaced ASAP but meanwhile's is there something I can do as a temporary patch on the interior so the thing doesn't blow up on me.

Pool construction next-door making a filthy mess of my pool.

The neighbor behind me is having an inground pool put in. They're over there digging with a tractor and not using any water. All of that dust is coming into my yard and pool. I have vacuumed it twice in the last week and can't keep up with it. Grrrrr!

    Considering adding algicide, polyquat 60

I have been spending a fortune on chlorine. Heavy winter rains combined with the problem of my lawn running off into my pool has caused one algae bloom after another every time it rains. I am checking into getting the drainage problem fixed before next winter but for now I'm thinking about...

One slam after another during winter rains

Hi folks, I'm getting a little fustrated here. It seems I get algee with every heavy rain storm. I just restored my pool to crystal clear after a slam and cleaned my filters. I held my fc level just above slam level as there was another storm coming in. Sure enough overnight rains left me with a...

First slam, suspecting a filtration problem.

Hello pool guru friends, I want to start by saying this form has helped me quite a lot but I still consider myself a total rookie. I started following the methods taught here about eight months ago after after having my pool replastered. I decided I wasn't going to leave it up to the pool...

    Pool area shade solution

Several months ago I posted asking for thoughts on poolside shade solutions. After taking into consideration the amount of area we want to shade, the angle of the sun on our seating area, we decided to go big. I considered a shade sail as I like the way they look, but after getting some quotes...

    PH reagent

UH Oh! I think I may have ordered the wrong refill for my pH reagent. Will it work with my residential Taylor test kit? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Poolside shade solutions

I have been researching poolside shade solutions for a month or two. I really like the look of a shade sail or something like the pic below. We have a lot of wind where I live so taking that into consideration. I have read so many negative reviews about umbrellas that dont last so im looking at...

Just fired my pool service and taking over

Hello, we bought a home with a 24,000 gallon pool about 2 years ago. I have never owned a pool so we hired a pool service to maintain the chemicals. I have been educating myself on maintaining the pool and ready to take over. Our pool service company has failed to meet our expectations far too...
