    Possible clogged filter ?

Sorry... I don't understand your reply.. nothing is different. Just attempted to move the backwash valve into the backwash position in case that would help. No can do. Different problem I assume? Still have a tank full of water. If you have any suggestions at all as to how to drain it other...

    Possible clogged filter ?

I gathered from you reply that perhaps that valve might be in the wrong position. It was in filter mode where it should be unless I'm backwashing right? I tried pulling up on the valve to see if the water would drain and the handle is good and stuck. It will swivel in and out of position but...

    Possible clogged filter ?

Depressurized and opened my Pentair FNS+ 48 DE filter this morning to clean it as I've done many times previously. Much to my surprise the bottom half of the tank was 2/3rds full of water. I know there's plug that comes off at the bottom of the tank but I'm concerned that I may have a bigger...

    Stripped clamp bolt

Very likely could be! Had no idea you could replace just the bolt. I’ll do my best to measure but it’s assembled right now because I can’t get the barrel nut to budge. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction 😀

    Stripped clamp bolt

So from my info you will see that I have a Pentair FNS+48 DE filter. Over time removing the clamp assembly to clean my filter has become a real workout. I replaced the barrel nut a year ago and thought I had solved the problem. Apparently the bolt itself can become stripped over time. This is an...

    Backwash question

Thanks for your reply... normal PSI is 19-20 ... I typically do a full cleaning at least once per year or when the PSI creeps above 25. Will occasionally do a back wash after I’ve done a chemical treatment, for example an algaecide when I’ve been inattentive to my pool chemistry . ( yes, happens...

    Backwash question

Hello! I switched to cellulose fiber filter medium for my Pentair FNS 48 DE filter some years ago. The last time I did a full filter cleaning, and having done one backwash a number of months prior to the full cleaning, I noticed that there seemed to be a scant amount of the cellulose fiber...

    any creative suggestions for repair?

Richard - it's a little thicker than an inch but I think it could be cut out and replaced with something else. A custom plastic cover would be a great idea provided that I could still easily access the skimmer to connect/disconnect pool sweeper as needed and clean out debris. Thank you very much!

    any creative suggestions for repair?

Hmmm...I kind of like where you are going with this. Didn't think about shoving some styrofoam under there. At one time I wondered if I could simply remove all the broken bits and fill it in with pre-mixed concrete as there is a piece of rebar in there to stabilize it. The rebar is in rough...

    any creative suggestions for repair?

Yes, in a matter of speaking. There is a recess below the deck level on the outer edges and then the remainder is hanging over the skimmer. I suppose a concrete professional could make a mold for sure... Thanks!

    any creative suggestions for repair?

I've been staring at this deteriorated concrete around my skimmer deck lid for awhile....:( There's water underneath it (duuuh) so it's not so easy as to simply concrete over, right? Any construction gurus out there with a creative solution that might not cost $100's and $100's? Appreciate...

    Mustard Algae not going away?

Thanks Ned and Duraleigh - Perhaps I didn't read the SLAM instructions completely then. I don't recall seeing a reference to the order in which you take the pool to mustard algae shock level so I just decided to take it there first as this is what seemed logical. Could be I missed it...

    Mustard Algae not going away?

Thanks for your reply.....and thanks for reminding me of these two little tests! Completely forgot about them... My concern is that this area with the staining is exactly where I had an algae bloom (or so I thought??) so logic would dictate that it is algae yes? Haven't misidentified in the...

    Mustard Algae not going away?

Hello! 48 hours into a SLAM. Initially took pH to 7.4 with acid and mustard algae shock level according to pool calc. Then let FC drop to SLAM level and have maintained 16 FC based upon 40 CYA for 48 hours. Overnight test showed pool at 15 FC, 0 CC, and water is pretty darn clear. ( no direct...

    SLAM questions..

    SLAM questions..

Thank you, Donaldsn! YOUR response was very helpful... linen, not so much....I wouldn't go to all this trouble and work if I wasn't certain that it is mustard algae. As a Lifetime Supporter of this forum I am a pool school "graduate", have read all the articles on this topic and simply asked a...

    SLAM questions..

Ok so it's my first time doing SLAM..at least properly anyway... Pool was drained and acid washed back in April 1)'cuz it needed it and 2) last season had mustard algae from heck that I unsuccessfully attempted to treat. Thought that acid wash would eliminate any residual algae.....but no, it's...

    Add chem's after drain/acid wash

Very shortly my pool will be drained and acid washed. I am sure that the person I selected to do this work will provide instructions as to how to treat the new water once we begin to refill but I am interested in the expert opinions I have always received from this forum. This is my first...

Pool mastic replacement. DIY or not

FYI - My son and I installed Santastic last summer. No go at all! Looked great for one season. I haven't removed it yet but it is peeling off and whenever I hose down my deck and coping area, big chunks come off....wouldn't recommend it at all. On my way to HD to buy Sikaflex SL....
