    Neighbor Issues

I just saw this thread. I'm friendly with my nieghbors but they have a horror tree that continually rains down small leaves from Spring until Fall. It's a Siberian Elm - an invasive species here on Long Island. It also has large fragile branch networks that frequently break off. About 5...

    Rail and Ladder anchor replacement

When I replaced my ladder anchor cups, the pool bonding wire was visible but the old bond wire for the old anchors was nowhere to be found. I connected to the pool bond wire but ran a new bond between the two cups, took up my brick in sand paver deck to run the bond back to the pump, heater...

Heat Pump near Boston MA - recommendations

I love my Heat Siphon pump. Great customer service - when it broke under warranty (5 years) they delivered a new one and even installed it (I did the initial install myself with an electrician). The solar cover works well but for me was just a pain - rolling it out up every morning and rolling...

    Pool Guy Quotes

I have to jump in here. "Yes your pool is green, but look how clear it is!" "Salt water systems are maintenance free - just plug them and your done (of course he had it wired for the wrong voltage)" "You can definitely paint a pool when it is drizzling - it's waterproof paint after all"...

New here - pool paint, pool companies, pool ownership - the good and the bad

I just realized you had posted pictures of your project - looks good. I wanted to use epoxy but couldn't because it wouldn't go over rubber based paint. But the rubber-based is now on its 4th season and still looks ok, especially if you keep the water balanced and clear! Just a few chips...

    pool safety fence opinions

Hi, We used a company by the name of Life Saver. Not cheap - about $1500 for 3 sides of a 16 x 32 pool. The last side had a back fence. This could definitely be a DYI if you are handy. In hindsight, I would have bought the materials and put it in myself. Just would have needed a drill to...

New here - pool paint, pool companies, pool ownership - the good and the bad

Thanks - I've been reading and getting help for years. The contractor was highly recommended by family. It just made me realize how little people actually know about their pools but I am happy to take control of it and not be reliant on anyone else.

New here - pool paint, pool companies, pool ownership - the good and the bad

You used epoxy paint? I couldn't since the pool has a previous coat of chlorinated rubber that I would have had to completely strip. Let me know how the epoxy holds up. I wanted to use sider crete roll on plaster but again I would have to remove all of the previous paint - too much work for...

New here - pool paint, pool companies, pool ownership - the good and the bad

I'm new member but have been reading for about 5 years. When I bought my house, pool had been closed for 2 years. It's an old pool - probably 30 years old gunite with a brick deck in sand, concrete coping and blue tile. After having a pool guy come out since I knew nothing about pools, he...
