    Pool Math........The App

I believe the $8 yearly subscription fee is way too high. If there is an additional server cost then that was simply bad programming, unless you require access to the data for data mining for potential future profit? The results could just as easily be saved locally and/or to iCloud. This...

Adding cellulose to a sand filter

I use Fiber Clear and it works amazing! My water gets super clear after I use it. I used to use real DE and fiber clear definitely works as well. I'm not sure its any better, but it is sure not any worse.

Buying a Pump: Has Anyone Purchased from PoolsOnly.com?

Never heard of them either... Shipping to my location is $39.47 for a total of $889.42. That would make it only slightly cheaper than amazon... I would take amazon over someplace i've never heard of for $15. The pump can be had on ebay for $947 with free shipping, with 8% bing cashback (google...

    worms driving me crazy

I put crushed lime stone around the pool. It seems that increases the pH of the soil and the worms don't like that so they turn around instead of up over the concrete and in to the pool! I use to get a pool full of worms with every rain, now I get less than 3 even with super heavy rains.

.75 or 1 HP motor for my pool?

FYI, you previously mentioned the Jacuzzi pump. Jacuzzi Brothers no longer makes pool equipment (they were bought out), the warranty is void, and no parts are being manufactured. So... you should rule that one out. :) You can look here to see the difference between the 2 pumps you listed...

    Ascorbic acid not removing stains

I did another 2 lbs of Stain Free (only asorbic acid locally I could find). No luck, and i've spent enough on that stuff! I've added a total of 12 gallons of 6% bleach (one at a time, adding another when FC tests 0), still haven't gotten FC to hold more than a few hours so I assume there was a...

    Ascorbic acid not removing stains

I should also note it has been stained for several years, getting worse each year.

    Ascorbic acid not removing stains

The PH is 7.0, the water temp is only 70F. I actually used Stain Free from Natural Chemisty. It claims to be an ascorbic acid treatment and says "Like Vitamin C for your pool!". Any experience with this? Perhaps its not pure ascorbic acid... It has a ton of Poly60 in it... It took me forever...

    Ascorbic acid not removing stains

27,000 gallon 18x36 IG pool, vinyl liner, brown stains in the deep end and on the stairs. Both areas responded to a vitamin C tablet. I added 2.75 pounds of AA and waited about 4 hours, stains looked the same, as I added another .75 pounds (all I had left). The next day the stains were lighter...

    Pump Help! - Solar Heater

My pressure with the solar off is 10, with the solar on it is 25 (clean filter). That is about 58 feet of head, correct? According to the posted chart I should still be pushing 45GPM, which is above the maximum for 1.5" pipe anyway. Could the pump being 8 years old affect the performance? The...

    Pump Help! - Solar Heater

Okay... I guess the whisperflow does look better. I currently only have a 20AMP 120V circuit ran, so something that is only 1HP full rated pump would be best! Any input on if that pump would work, or another suggestion, or anything... Highly appreciated!

    Pump Help! - Solar Heater

Okay... it goes from the equipment pad about 15 feet horizontality, then up about 15 feet to a roof above the garage, it runs through 2 4x12 panels mounted vetically and T's off to also go another 10 feet in the air to the main roof where it feeds in to 2 banks 5 panels (total of 10) that are...

    Pump Help! - Solar Heater

I had a solar heater installed, and my pool pump is not strong enough to push to the water fast enough. It is going up 2 stories and through 3 seperate banks of solar panels (total of 12). Lots of air bubbles in the line, the installer took off the vacum relief valve and there was a trickle of...

asorbic acid, borates and PH adjust combo

I am doing an ascorbic acid treatment on a friends pool and also adding borates. Here was my thought: Add ascorbic acid, add sequestering agent, add boric acid, and balance TA and PH as needed. Does that make sense? My thought is the ascorbic acid is going to lower the PH, the boric acid...

So you want to add borates to your pool--Why and How

FYI, dudadiesel is much cheaper if you buy directly from their website (www.dudadiesel.com) as they aren't paying ebay fees.

Cool new videos on water testing by Taylor

If anyone found the "daylight simulator" as cool as I did, the one they used was: GEPE - Pro 4X5 Slim Light Box It is about $50 and sold at photography supply places online. I must now have one. :)

    Sucessfully removed iron from water?

I had bad iron stains in my vinyl liner pool last year. Pool store tested and said there was a "good amount" of iron in the water. I really wish I would have gotten the actual amount from them, but its too late for that... I did the ascorbic acid treatment per the instructions here. I then...

    solar panel quote

Ah.. I read your post as 6'x12' panels, I didn't think anyone made panels that size! :) I estimate total part cost to be around $2000. Labor time would be about 2 people 2 days or 4 people 1 day.... In this area I would say it should be under $4000, assuming you aren't doing any underground...

    solar panel quote

You didn't say how many panels? I just had a solar system installed. It was 10 10x4 eagle sun panels and 2 12x4 panels (496 sq ft. total), fully installed with automatic controller for $5995. 10 years parts and labor, parts warranty is from the manufacture and labor warranty is from the...
