try turning your return valve to direct all the water flow through that system and maximize the venturi suction. the force of the water flow may clear out any stuck debris? also check the debris basket to see if its full.

I have both also...started with solar breeze original, then nx, then ariel, and now betta 2. there is already thread comparing them, so I wont go into all that. I was intrigued with the skimbot with all its features but I dont like the debris basket as it has large holes that wouldn't work...

they supposedly have an "improved" model out, but not sure what improvements they have made. they just sent me an email offering $100 off legacy owners, but even with that it's still $498.

most of the complaints i have read about here seem to pertain to the original betta. i have had my betta 2 since june & its still motoring fine. i clean it up every so often as some debris can lodge in the propeller shafts. also as mentioned here , spray some wd 40 every now & then

I always have it off when charging in the sun on my patio. charges up fine without it being on

i agree with your comprehesive comparison. this time of year with windy weather & more extensive leaf drop, i end up using both units for extendended usage. arial seems to pick up a bit more debris as i believe the paddle design allows it more power to navigate rough waters during windy...

well, i've had my betta2 for couple weeks & couldn't be more satisfied with its performance. it's everything ariel should have been. the only times i'll use ariel again will be on excessive wind events along with betta or if betta breaks down.

The Ariel battery sucks which is its biggest drawback. I guess the Betta2 can last all night like the NX2 used to do if in full sun during daytime. If the Betta 2 turns out to be more reliable than its first generation unit, then I'll probably end up making the switch

today the unit will not reset to normal navigational behavior. the rear paddle wheels are running in opposite directions constantly. reset it several times but still getting same behavior. I have emailed for warranty repair instructions.

Anyone notice Ariel getting stuck in reverse mode at times. I have had it happen at least twice that I know of. A hard reset seems to correct it but now that its happened more than once , I'm wondering if I need to send in for repair?
