Dude this is solid thanks for the update and shout out. You inspired me to push my project back up the pipeline. Hopefully I’ll get some replacement parts ordered and can get back to tinkering on mine. By the way that android app is completely insane it looks so good and basically destroys any...

    In the Swim Chlorine Tabs

Just did 2 stenner pumps one for acid and one for chlorine. 245 bucks each on amazon. For the constant speed 17 gallon a day version. Blue 15gallon chemical container was like 40 bucks each. Only took an hour or so to install it was pretty easy. So I think the previous price is a little high...

My DIY Pool Automation Particle Photon samsung smartthings

For anyone following I have updated the project over there on the smartthings website today to include stenner pump injections for muriatic acid and chlorine. Changed pump and valve schedules over to local processing instead of cloud triggered and a few other functional changes.

Why go for expensive hayward/pentair pool RGB LED when you can get one for under $100

I bought one of these from amazon and the remote itself stopped working the first week. This might be a fluke though and I just got a defective light. I’m not sure. Otherwise it’s a beautiful light and I didn’t care about the remote cause I hooked mine to an arduino and a relay so it’s cheapily...

Home Automation and Integration with Alexa / Google Home

Why thank you! It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot on the process. I was new to programming so it was my first go at something like this. But after reading lots of sample code on particles websites for control of things I was able to figure my way around what I needed to do. I saw you...

My DIY Pool Automation Particle Photon samsung smartthings

I agree unless I magically hear that orp sensors become super reliable I’ll save my money for now. I’d almost rather have no information than get bad information.

My DIY Pool Automation Particle Photon samsung smartthings

Good to know. I’m not sure why I missed all notifications for this post so sorry for the late reply. I could dream though right haha. Maybe I’d have better luck just ph sensing and setting up notifications if that’s out of whack and then perhaps do auto chlorine dosing the amount my pool...

My DIY Pool Automation Particle Photon samsung smartthings

Sorry for some reason the forum didn’t notify me I had a reply. Home Automation and Integration with Alexa / Google Home

I setup mine with a particle photon running an 8 channel relay. 3 of the relay channels run pump speed on my variable speed pump and I can select 8 different speeds. 1 runs my pool light and I can select colors based on power cycling the relay. The other four control valve actuators. The...

My DIY Pool Automation Particle Photon samsung smartthings

Hey so I decided that some of you guys here might find this interesting. I wanted to automate my pool and tie it in with my samsung smartthings home automation controller. Pool light burned out

I ordered all the following off Amazon hopefully the seal works. the one I fount on Amazon had a z at the end of the same part number you sent me. Not sure what the z represents but it looks right. The seal didn't look brittle or anything but I'd hate to ruin the fixture or the 150 dollar bulb...

Hey all so my pool light burned out and I pulled it out to take a look I'm not sure how long it has been in the pool but off the fixture I was barely able to make out the following information. American products model number R – 400 BC Wattage 400 Voltage 120 Bulb type G-30 My question is if...

    Strange obstruction

If that's what it is then kids must have as all three things jammed in there were pool toys. Now I have the ufo flow diverter and a strainer basket so nothing should get stuck again. I took the pump apart and cleaned debris out of the impeller with a pipe cleaner and now she's running whisper...

    Strange obstruction

Bought some storks tonight I found in a two pack on clearance at Home Depot. I was able to pull out the weird tubing. It was followed by a large bouncy ball then next out of the hole was an underwater missile. Then so much dirt and leaves and sand it instantly clogged the pump basket which was...

    Strange obstruction

Yeah it seems unintentional like it got sucked in. I figure if it was intentional wouldn't they just use a plug. I can't seem to get a hold of it with needle nose pliers and I can barely reach it with my fingers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Strange obstruction

New to swimming pools just bought a house with a pool and I have been trolling to figure out chemicals and such. My pump housing blew and I had a pool guy out to fix it as it was covered under the home warranty. I also had noticed the auto fill wasn't working it was all dirty in there like it...
