New SWG install but vendor recommendations differ from TFP. Advice needed!

Good point, and I have thought about doing this. With the COVID thing happening though, lots of kids are in and out of the pool during the day, so I'm trying to keep it skimmed. Lots of fuzzy stuff in my pool from a nearby flowering tree, so hopefully can reduce it soon. I think I'm going to...

New SWG install but vendor recommendations differ from TFP. Advice needed!

Quick follow-up here, but adjusted all my numbers based on TFP recommendations, and have been running my SWCG at 25% for 10 hours a day to maintain FC! Granted, water temp is only 80 degrees right now, but still it's been a breeze to maintain. Should have done this 4 years ago.

Part came in. Close, but no cigar. It's just a tad smaller, such that the threads of retainer ring can't get a good purchase in the jet housing. Back to the drawing board.

Agreed. I'm going to try it. I can find the retainer ring other places for less than $3, but the eyeball is harder to find. If it works it's worth it though.

Hydro Air Bath Jets, but instead of protruding tabs, it has recessed indents for tightening down the retainer ring. See here: Balboa Ring, Eyeball Retaining, White (10-3704) - 30-3704 WHT - INYOPools.com

I have no idea at all. Pool was part of the house I bought 5 years ago. I think the pool is 12-15 years old.

    Need help identifying spa jets

@RDspaguy Inyo hasn't responded so I'm not feeling good about it. Are you saying that maybe the parts that are in my spa don't necessarily go together? Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? Maybe a way to swap out more internals or something? I have 3 7/8" twistlock venturi nozzles...

    Need help identifying spa jets

I have emailed pictures to Inyo so maybe they will know as well. I've scowered all the old parts diagrams for Hydro Air and can't see anything that looks like mine. Close, but no cigar. Also older Balboa parts but nothing matches either.

Thanks for your help! I took these underwater, so I added some marking to help identify. Jet looks to be 3/4"

    Need help identifying spa jets

I've spent at least two hours searching the internet trying to figure out what part this is, but can't. I have 6 jet in my spillover spa. One of them is missing a directional eyeball and retainer. Pictures below are one of the eyes with and without the insert, along with a picture of the...

    Preparing Water for SWG

Ditto what everyone said above. I just recently converted back to a salt pool after about 3-4 years of bleach chlorination. My salt was definitely low from those years of splash out and some leaks. It took less than it would if I had zero salt, but I still had to add a lot. My CYA was also...

SWG water "feels" better....if true why?

I had a SWG pool for a while, and then my SWG board died. I did manually chlorination with bleach for 3 years until I was sick of it, and just recently installed a new SWCG. I loved the feel of the pool before, then forgot how it felt until recently. The salt water does make the water feel...

    SWG Size

I just purchase a CMP PowerClean. They make a 20k, 40k and 60k model. It is SO much nicer than the previous system I owned. I would seriously look at these if I were you.

    First time adding CYA.

I've been using a cotton (as in T shirt like material) pillow case. I zip tie it closed with a string attached to that zip tie. Then attach that to a large brick or cinder block so it can hang over the side in front of return jet. I've done as much as 6 lbs like this in one dose, and it only...

New SWG install but vendor recommendations differ from TFP. Advice needed!

LOL, I found that shortly after my last post. Thanks for suggesting it as well! Love TFP! I am just going to trust the recommendations and do what it says. I can't easily digest most of the things in that thread, nor do I really want to spend the time trying. I have another 8 lbs of...

New SWG install but vendor recommendations differ from TFP. Advice needed!

Still trying to wrap my head around this. If CYA is 70, why is an FC target level of 5 okay for a SWG, but you need 8-10 in a liquid chlorine pool? This is based on the TFP CYA/FC chart. Just not sure why a there are two different FC levels recommended. Maybe it's b/c the FC stays more...

    High pressure and eyeball size

The replacement pump was an identical model. I did let the cleaner line provide some extra return for a while, but due to its location it seemed to interfere with the flow of water in the pool and how it skimmed. Things were much better when I just closed it up. I have thought about opening it...

    High pressure and eyeball size

Thanks for the response! I replaced my sand last year "just because". No change. My new SWCG is in place as of this morning and that didn't change anything either. Now my pool does have a spillover spa, which I haven't mentioned is shut off. When I open that, it does drop down 5 PSI to...

    High pressure and eyeball size

So I tried that and it dropped from 25 down to 21 with no eyes or caps. Just straight pipe. Still seems pretty high to me. Today my SWCG is getting replaced. I’m wondering if the cartridge change will drop pressure any.

    High pressure and eyeball size

Hey guys. Searching has yielded a few discussions about pressure and eye size, but nothing that I feel like I can make decisions on. I bought a house with a pool a few years ago. Water pressure was around 17-18 PSI when clean when I bought it. Pump died so replaced it with the same exact...

New SWG install but vendor recommendations differ from TFP. Advice needed!

Thanks. I did go with a 40k cell, so hopefully that will do the trick. My pool doesn't have a lot of swimmers in it except for the occasional event, and I don't mind supplementing with bleach in those cases if necessary.
