Best cover for above ground pool - 18 Round - Suggestions please.

We just had a Matrix pool installed this spring and wondered how the secure the cover, the pool being mostly resin. Our old pool had metal rails and we used the clips and plastic wrap. The swingset anchors look to be perfect for the resin rail Matrix!

DIY PVC Solar Cover Holder (Pics included!)

Yes, it has held up fine! For the winter, I removed the goalposts from the rebar, capped the open post ends (no glue) and removed the rebar. I stored all of it under the pool deck. I don't think I'd do anything different. It's just so much easier to deal with the solar cover now. Plus...

DIY PVC Solar Cover Holder (Pics included!)

Thanks Charlie & Stump! Stump, the solar cover just rests on the goalposts, works even when it's wet. It's a cheap cover, so it's not too heavy. My cover is only 18' round, so it works. Since I'm on the shorter side (5'3") it makes it easier to put the solar cover back on even when I'm not...

DIY PVC Solar Cover Holder (Pics included!)

Grass clippings on the solar cover drove me nuts. Dragging it in and out of the pool was a pain. My husband didn't want to stress the rails by hanging brackets off it. Drilling into the supports for a Solar Saddle was a no go. So I devised my own holder. I used 1" PVC set on 4' rebar...

    Pillow questions

It's not necessary. The first year I closed my pool, my pillow had a slow leak and deflated shortly after. I haven't used one since. I drain water from the cover as usual and leave a little on top to help keep the cover from cupcaking during high winds. Plus it just looks better!

too much coming out of return for diver dave

I had the same problem with my Aqua Bug. What I found that helped was to remove the eyeball before vacuuming and use a cheap arm-type waterfall fountain that screws into the return. Like this: [attachment=0:3cdwe4u4]Waterfall1.jpg[/attachment:3cdwe4u4] The base usually has an adjustable...

    deck for above ground pool

We have a 5 x 13 deck from VinylWorks. It is perfect for our needs. The deck is sturdy, needs virtually no maintenance and held up well to the snow this winter. It has a safety gate and stairs up and also down into the pool. We would love to have a bigger deck, but septic setbacks prevent this.

How often do you top off your AGP?

Hi Dave! I'm in CT too, and yes, it is most likely due to evaporation. I use a solar cover to prevent that and it helps a lot! During July when it was really hot here, I left the cover off for 2 weeks to help it cool down a bit and found it was down about an inch also after that time...

New AG Pool today! Need ideas for surrounding area

We had somewhat the same problem on what to do with ours. My husband decided to cut back and gently slope it to the pool. He cut back around 3 feet from the drop and sloped it towards the pool, laying sod over it. We plan on planting the small shrubs (bottom pic) someday on that slope-they...

    What's your current pool temp?

Pool temp is 88 in this crazy heat wave. I have a cheap fountain that I bought at Namco that fits into the eyeball opening. I may have to use that to cool the pool a bit!

    Replacing Above Ground Pool Fence

We purchased a similar vinyl fence from our local pool store. Vinyl Works was the manufacturer. My hubby has yet to put it up. There is no gate, as the ladder we have is the "gate" -self closing, self latching per pool code . We did purchase the resin fan deck to go with it (not up...

new pool, no electric for pump yet - add bleach?

Whew! I knew someone had the answer out there! Yes, I will head over to WalMart for a canoe paddle in the morning and also some washing soda. I already have bleach. Using my numbers in the Pool Calculator, do I need to add the baking soda too with the washing soda to get the TA number up...

new pool, no electric for pump yet - add bleach?

Our pool was installed yesterday and it has just finished filling up (city water). The electrician will be out early next week to run the power to the pump. I would run an extension cord, but it has that twist lock plug. Then the town has to inspect the trench for the permit. So, I'm looking...

    Hi! from blackcats in CT

Hi All! I have been lurking at TFP for a month, so I feel it's time to introduce myself... Ever since I was 5 years old I had always wanted a pool. My dad put a kibosh on that saying it was bad for the grass, it will attract neighborhood delinquents, etc. So we compensated by...
