New pool owner (previously neglected pool) - piping question

A 3-way with stops will not prevent that. If it can easily be adjusted to not allow it to be closed, it can easily be adjust to allow it to be closed.

New pool owner (previously neglected pool) - piping question

You could always plug the skimmer and have the main drain open if draining the pool is needed. For safety sake, I wouldn't want to have a valve on the skimmer that someone could inadvertently leave closed and all the suction is on the main drain. There has been fatalities from becoming trapped...

New pool owner (previously neglected pool) - piping question

I wouldn't think you need a 3-way valve, probably just a shutoff for the main drain so you can get more suction on the skimmer and get the flow right for the baracuda.

New pool owner (previously neglected pool) - piping question

For safety reasons, I wouldn't put a shutoff valve on the skimmer unless you have 2 main drains.

Baracuda G3 - stuck on main drain

Sorry for the confusion. I changed my pool liner and replaced the main dran covers with a different type. I'm not suggesting to change your pool liner. I'm not sure what type cover it is but it's more rounded at the bottom whereas the other one was squared off.

Baracuda G3 - stuck on main drain

I think the problem you may have with too much suction is the baracuda might stay on the walls all the time. Mine would get stuck on the main drain also until I changed the liner and put in different covers. It hasn't gotten stuck in 2 years now. You can try moving the weight on the hose to see...

    Inground Pool Closing questions

I don't think there is any need to blow out your lines or use antifreeze on inground pools in The Great State of South Carolina especially in the midlands where you are. I put a cover over the pool, set the multiport valve to "winter", drain the filter and disconnect the pump and put it in the...

Replacing my Polaris 380 with a Baracuda MX-8

If you do hook it up to the skimmer I would recommend getting a Pool Skim. Between the Pool Skim and my Baracuda G3 my pool stays very clean without me having to do anything other than empty out the Pool Skim bag.

How to push a liner back in the track

Can you get in the water and start a couple feet down pushing up toward where its come out and when you get to the top push it back in?

    Barracuda Mx8 problem

The universal valve cuff that comes with it should work for 2" pipe. Its the white rubber piece with 4 ribs that the gray flowkeeper valve fits in.

    Greetings from Michigan

Ian, May want to make sure that leak isn't coming from your pump. If it is, it may be the ceramic seal leaking which may explain why the bearings in your motor went out.

    Cavatation, Clogs and Crazy-making

You would see a little water moving if it was turning slow. I would verify that the impeller is turning. Sounds like your impeller has broken from where it screws on to the motor shaft.

    Need Help - Careless mistake

You should be fine. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it's not leaking, you could have damaged the ceramic seal which is easily replaced.

Black Markings On Bottom of Feet

In my pool where the liner comes up to the bottom of the steps, there's some plastic trim and in a gap between the trim and the steps there's some rubber gasket material that if you touch it you will get black marks from it. Don't know if that's what's happening in yours but I would look for...

Baracuda G4 - Starting and Stopping

Sounds like something may be stuck in the diaphragm or you might need a new diaphragm. You can find them online for 20-25 bucks.

    Barracuda g3 stopped moving

Check the diaphragm also. There could be something stuck in it causing it to stop

Is it the pump or is it me?

I wouldn't do the WD-40. It is not a good corrosion preventative. I would cover it with a tarp over the winter if taking it out and storing it is not an option. I would be afraid to wrap it up tight with a garbage bag and duct tape because of condensation.

    Pump Motor Replacement Q's

If it arrives at 5:00 pm, you should be done by 5:30 or 6:00 pm. It's that simple. You may want to go to the Hayward website and download the manual for your pump, it should have an exploded view you can look at and get familiar with it before the motor arrives. Good luck

    Pool motor leak?

The Emerson 3/4 hp has a service factor of 1.5 which brings it to 1.125 and your hayward 1 hp probably had a service factor of 1.1 bringing it to 1.1 Seems like the Emerson 3/4 would be the stronger of the 2 As far as the leak goes, replacing the motor won't fix that, new seals should take care...

    Port for Automatic Cleaner

man you guys are to quick! I was hoping it might be common practice for pool builders to do this so it would be there if someone wanted to use it at a later date. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks for the quick reply

    Port for Automatic Cleaner

I have an 18 X 36 inground vinyl and have been using a Baracuda G3 which I have been pleased with except having to plug it into my skimmer (it skims a little but not enough while it's plugged in). There seems to be a port under the liner about 6 inches below and to the right of the skimmer and a...
