To update you all, I ended up getting a new pump motor. It's been awhile and I expected it to start giving me trouble soon anyway, so I decided to go ahead and replace it.

It just occurred to me that maybe I accidentally pulled the laterals up through the sand when I was taking off the top. It wouldn't be the first mistake I've made. Let me know if you think that's what might have happened.

Strange that it won't dissolve, but yeah vacuum it up as soon as possible. I find it's a lot easier to dissolve granular shock in a bucket of warm water first then pour that into the pool.

Not necessarily. CC itself is not a contaminate in your pool. It's a byproduct of your FC working on sanitizing your pool. It just means your FC is doing it's job, and there's still something in the water it's having to work extra hard on. You have enough of a contaminate in your pool for CC to...

If you use granular chlorine in the future, be sure you push it around with a broom until it dissolves or pre-dissolve it in a bucket of warm water and pour the solution slowly in front of a return jet. I find the second option is easier.
