    Voltage Concern

Well, maybe it is not a concern I should have? I just installed a new pump motor. It is rated at 230 volts, however using a meter, I am getting 242 volts. Is this an issue? If I turn this on am I going to fry my new motor?

July 4th Party = Lots of Kids = Pounds of Sunblock = White Film in my Skimmers!

After seeing white film floating in the skimmers from our 4th of July party, I thought I'd look to see if there is a product out there that would absorb body oils, sunblock oils, etc. I left my filter running for an extra long time yesterday so my pool is back to normal for now. I am here...

Heater Turns on for 1 minute then Shuts Off

If only you were in Massachusetts you could have helped with my issue! No one could get the heater to work properly when the pipe was that small.... and my meter is only about 5 feet from my heater!

Heater Turns on for 1 minute then Shuts Off

This exact thing happened to me. Last year I had our plumber replumb the gas line to the heater. After the job was complete we had this issue. The frustrating part was that all readings were in the range where the heater should have been fine. After a few weeks of the various techs visiting (I...

    Removing DE From Pool

That makes sense! I guess that is why my local pool store's salt readings are always about 300 ppm lower than what my SWG's display reads.

    Removing DE From Pool

May I ask a dumb question? I am new to pool ownership (2nd season) so I'm still pretty naive (this site it teaching me quickly ;)). Why/how could the pool store's readings be off when done digitally (at least on a computer) vs. when done using a test kit? Is that a comment on just Leslie's, or...

    Yard/Lawn/Irrigation System Forum

I love this forum! I find myself checking it every day! The members are so responsive and helpful it is infectious! Does anyone know a forum as active and helpful as this that focuses on questions/conversations regarding lawns, landscaping, etc?

I purchased a SweepEase at the end of last year. It seems to work well.

    Caulking Above Tile Line?

One last question... would you advise if I were to repair the small gaps, that I dig out the existing line of caulking, or caulk over what is already there?

    Caulking Above Tile Line?

So you are talking about something like this, correct? Also, when do you think these small cracks pose a problem where I need to think about repairs? Should I fill in the small gaps with this sealant now, or wait another season or two until the problem is more obvious. As I mentioned, some, if...

    Caulking Above Tile Line?

Sorry if I am using any terminology wrong. If you look at the below picture I swiped from Google (this is not my pool), you will see the installer caulking between the top of the tile line and below (what I think is called) the coping. In my pool I am afraid that this line of caulking will soon...

    Automatic Timer Opinions

I have an automatic timer that turns on all my equipment. Currently, I have it set to turn on at 8am and off at 8pm. This leaves a 12 hour window during the nighttime hours where the pool water is dormant. I'd rather not run the equipment for more than 12 hours (unless I have to). What are...

    Pepper

Thank you all. I like that rule of thumb about not adding anything to the water unless you know what is in the bottle! If my pH becomes an annoyance again this season I may lean on you folks again to assist.

    Pepper

After a 2015 season of pH fluctuations (adding about 3 lbs. per week), a new product at the local pool store caught my eye this year... Pepper. Does anyone have any thoughts/experience with this? Is it worth it trying? Any negative side effects? Is it just a new, well-marketed, bottle of junk?

    Upgrade 500w Halogen Light

Thank you both! I've looked at a few YouTube videos and it does seem pretty straight forward. I also looked a little closer at the electrical work around the pool and I believe I've found the conduit. I was wrongfully envisioning the pool light fixture to work the same way as an indoor light...

    Upgrade 500w Halogen Light

I am interested in upgrading the boring white light in my inground pool. The previous owners had a halogen light fixture installed. The fixture seems to only accept a 500w 120v T-3 double ended halogen bulb. Does anyone know if, and how, this could be replaced with a color-changing LED fixture...
