    Commercial sanitizers?

Just did the math real fast, Home Depot: 2gx10% $6.36: $0.24/effective oz Ace 2gx10% $5.99: $0.23/effective oz HASA dealer: 4x12.5% /$6 deposit: $0.22/effective oz (before deposit) So after I buy 600 gallons, I will at that point be saving a penny per gallon over Ace. Yep, they keep...

    Commercial sanitizers?

I found a HASA dealer about 45 minutes away. 4 gal of 12.5% were (including $6 deposit) $21. That does not seem like a very good deal as Home Depot has 2x10% for ~$6.36 and my local Ace has 2x10% for $5.99 every day.

    Commercial sanitizers?

Hi there, been following TFP for 2 seasons and it's been going great. Question on chlorine, has anyone tried using a commercial sanitizer such as SparCHLOR? SparCHLOR | Spartan Chemical The data sheet seems to say it's just basically bleach, but I don't know if there are any additional...

Help me choose a replacement pump

Fantastic! You guys just saved me a bunch of $$. Thanks so much. Was there a dual-speed pump recommendation for this size of pool?

Help me choose a replacement pump

Here's the sticker -- it would be great if I'm wrong and there's no minimum flow rate. Tell me what you think.

Help me choose a replacement pump

Yeah, I didn't know that about minimum flow rate, but it's printed right there on the sticker. 63gpm. Two speed is fine. I have no preference on VS vs 2sp. But it sound like I'm for sure gonna need to get a new filter then huh? I mean, the gpm kind of makes sense - 40k gallon pool, say 80%...

Help me choose a replacement pump

So my current pump (2HP single speed pentair, about 10 years old) developed a pinhole leak in the impeller housing, it now shoots pressurized water everywhere. Unrelated, I measured it using about 2,600 kWh (at the meter). I called a pro who initially recommended a variable speed, but then...

1st timer, but what do I do now.... disgruntled frog owner hosed by local pool store!

How I started: And then: This is me after 3 weeks of 24/7 sand filtering/SLAM. Still very cloudy. Trust me, it takes a LOT of time and you can't really speed it up.

Patience and filter on 24/7, it takes an extremely long time for a sand filter to un-cloud a pool. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Timelines on clearing a pool upon opening...

I think you may need to just be patient. Check out my SLAM from last season, water started about where your pictures are and it took 9 days to clear up.

My algae battle progress (or, "want to see a SLAM?")

Thanks for the good feedback, yeah I'm looking forward to moving in so I've got full control over testing & nursing it up to perfect levels. Right now my parents are stopping by once a day and they text me the levels they get with my k-2006 and I text them back what to do. I showed them how to...

My algae battle progress (or, "want to see a SLAM?")

Days 6-8: Spent day 6 at FC=15 shock level. CC went to 0 on day 7, stopped adding chlorine. Brushed CYA powder around, it dissolved quickly. Perhaps it got sucked up by the main drain? Day 9: FC=6 CC=0 pH=7.7 TA=200 CYA=33-34 Pool is now sparkling. TA is high which I think is accounting for...

Suction & return line valve questions

So here's my valve setup: The upper is suction, the bottom is return, yes? Now, I see on the suction side there are two pipes, one is for the 2 skimmers and one is for the main drain? On the return side, why are there two pipes, and why is one side shut off? I have 2 eyeballs, both are...

My algae battle progress (or, "want to see a SLAM?")

Day 5: FC: 8.5 CC: 0.5 CYA: dot visible all the way Added 4 gallons 10%, 5 lbs CYA. Making double-sure we're above mustard shock level. Instructions said to broadcast CYA in the deep end, which was interesting. Pump time increased to 24 hrs.

    Sand in return line

If you're sure it's coming from the filter, it's probably a broken lateral. They are not expensive to replace but you do need to scoop out all the sand to do the job - time consuming. If you google "sand filter lateral replace" you'll find a couple videos about it. Sent from my iPhone using...

My algae battle progress (or, "want to see a SLAM?")

Getting ready to move into the new house and trying to get the pool ready for the day we land there. Spent some time over the weekend checking out the current state of the pool. Previous owners had a "pool guy" who was there the day before skimming... but apparently not doing much else. Lots of...

Hello! Buying house with a pool, can anyone tell me about this equipment?

Thanks for the info! I'll be out there this weekend for the first time straightening up. I just bought a robot to help keep it clear during move-in week and one of the recommended test kits :P - - - Updated - - - Oh the multiport valve, it seems to work but the lever spring is broken or...

Hello! Buying house with a pool, can anyone tell me about this equipment?

Greetings folks! I'm in contract on a house on the central coast of CA. One of the reasons I liked the house was the pool! My family had a pool many many years ago and I took care of it as a teenager, now I'm getting into my own thing. I will admit I am out of touch. We had a cartridge filter...
