    SLAM necessary when Opening?

FC is 5. Do I need 6-8 because I’m using liquid chlorine as opposed to SWG? When water temps come up for SWG I keep FC between 3-5 with a CYA of 60. Filters are clean and PSI is normal.

    SLAM necessary when Opening?

I’ve passed OCLT again and the pool is spotless. However, the water is still slightly ‘blurry’, as in not crystal clear and sparkling. We did have 4+ inches of rain last week…. But how long should it take to sparkle?

    SLAM necessary when Opening?

So my OCLT was .5 and the pool water continues to clear. We’ve got a good amount of rain coming so I may hold off on manual vac and another round of testing. I’ve run the robot a dozen times after thorough net session and brushing. Should I be running pump 24/7 until water is sparkling clear?

    SLAM necessary when Opening?

I’m in Toronto and use the spa late into the year while keeping clean and balanced. I closed the pool on Dec with proper chemistry. Water temp was 44. Opening pool now at 45. I’ve added a little chlorine every couple weeks once the ice cleared and fished out material when appropriate. There...

Hayward 3-Way Valve Leaking on one side?

Will post pic Tuesday - off to Nashville. It is a Hayward PSV Diverter Valve NSF.-50. Video I took is blurred out by the model number.

Hayward 3-Way Valve Leaking on one side?

Correct, when in spa mode (pool suction and return both closed) the water level in pump drops and there is a drip from the valve. When in pool mode the pump water level is right upto the top. Didn't think of a blockage? Assumed it was some sort of leak. When I take the valve top off, what...

Hayward 3-Way Valve Leaking on one side?

I've got Hayward 3-Way valve with GVA-24 Actuators and the return/pressure side leaks slightly when in the SPA position causing air to get into the pump and dropping the water level. When the valve is in the pool position (90% pool/10% spa) I can't see any leaking and no air in the pump but...

    Filter Cartridge Supplier - Canada/Toronto?

Appreciate it. Filters were 5 yrs old but when closed last year (Dec 30) and left filters out over night. Raccoons liked the salt is my guess and gave them a good chew…. We typically close in Dec before real freeze and open in March when threat of real freeze is gone.

    Filter Cartridge Supplier - Canada/Toronto?

Need 4 filters for our c5025 and I’m not seeing a savings over Hayward OEM, in fact, the opposite. 4 pk of Hayward filters is $452 Pleatco and Unicell are more. Was hoping to find filter set for under $300. Any suggestions on source?

Curious what the 'water purifcation' consumable is? Would this be a secondary filter to catch the fine debris after passing the basket(s)?

Needed to replace my FAS/DPD reagent but couldn't find R-0871 in Toronto. Is CR-0871 the same for use with TF-100 Test Kit?

    Solar PV and DC Element

Cheap in pool terms is under 2K. 6 PV panels, wire, and 2500W element. Thinking out loud, the simplicity of panels directly supplying DC to element that is inline. No extra pumps, controllers, and a long life low maintenance solution. But if it doesn’t do the job…. This solution takes up...

    Solar PV and DC Element

Has anyone looked at putting a DC element inline and powering it directly by PV panels. This would be a supplemental heat source to gas and blanket. According to online calc 2K watts will raise my pool by 1 degree in 17 H which is about 3 days of sun. 6 panels at 420W The system would be...

Balancing Options for FG Pool in Toronto

The first season that I'll be taking my Salt from 1400 to 3000 ppm to help our Salt Cell produce enough FC. Just want to clarify what numbers I should shoot for and to either confirm or deny some information I have been given (or mistaken) the past couple of years. Are the following numbers...

    Hose Choice for Draining

In Canada that hose is about 120 but I was looking at a heavier walled blue hose: https://torontopoolsupplies.ca/100-deluxe-extreme-backwash-hose.html

    Hose Choice for Draining

"Your 5/8” hose is restricting your flow significantly. Larger diameter will provide a higher flow rate." Agreed. Will 1 1/2" heavy duty backwash hose last if cared for properly?
  29. Van G

    Hose Choice for Draining

I've been using 100' 5/8" hose connected to sub-pump which has 3/4" adaptor. I can get 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" I believe. Pump is 1/2 hp (3k gph I think). Should I just buy 100' of 1 1/2" heavy duty backwash hose (clamp on) for the fastest drain rate? I only have to take water out a half dozen times...
