Dolphin s300i issue - shuts off

In case anyone else has this same problem in the future, here was our fix: I opened the robot to find that a little plastic piece had fallen off (circled in red in 1st picture). Once I pressed it back on where it is supposed to go (I didn't see a way to screw it on...just a little plastic tab...

Dolphin s300i issue - shuts off

We've had our Dolphin s300i for a little over 3 years (this is its 4th summer), and a few weeks ago it began having issues. It would start moving when we turned it on, would go forward and back a few times, then stop. Tried some troubleshooting suggestions from Maytronics, which didn't fix it...

Prefer not to winterize, but can't keep up w the evaporation..am I missing something?

I can't say I'm 100% sure it is just evaporation, but we've always had to add a fair amount of water in the summer and winter (pool gets direct sunlight all day), and they pressure-tested for leaks when it was installed I believe. Someone did try to explain to me the scientific reasons that...

Prefer not to winterize, but can't keep up w the evaporation..am I missing something?

We're on our 3rd winter with the pool. 1st winter was mild temps and had no issues keeping the pool/spa open. 2nd winter we had 9 days of below-freezing temps and our chlorinator froze and burst around day 3 so we had to do a last-minute winterization since there wasn't a bypass valve. Now...

    Pool management in freezing temps

Sure. I've been told it was plumbed in an unnecessarily complex way. Knowing what I know now, I would definitely have them do a few things differently.

    Pool management in freezing temps

Fortunately we were able to get someone out here this morning to winterize so I didn't have to wing it on my own. We've never winterized because we use the spa some during the winter, but going forward it looks like we'll have to. Thanks everyone for your input and advice!

    Pool management in freezing temps

Woke up to the pumps still running but will be cutting power today and trying to drain. Not even sure I'll be able to get the drain plug off our filter at this point.

    Pool management in freezing temps

Well I was finally able to thaw out the outdoor hose bib so I could fill the pool, pumps have been running ok in freeze protection mode, but I just went out and saw the chlorinator had exploded within the last hour or so. No chlorine tabs in it but I thought water should have been running...

    Pool management in freezing temps

Well, the other spigot is frozen now too so doesn't look like I'll be able to add water unless I carry it out in a big bucket with multiple trips...

    Pool management in freezing temps

I didn't realize we could have evaporation in winter but your explanation makes sense...I'll be happy if that's what it is! I will try to add water to the pool. One of our spigots was frozen a few days ago, so hoping the other still works. Really ready for this cold weather to move on...

    Pool management in freezing temps

We've had several days without the air temp getting above freezing, and we have a few more to come it seems. Our pumps have been running round the clock in freeze protect mode, and after noticing a layer of ice in the pool yesterday and the water level getting low, I'm wondering if there are...

Clear pool, mustard algae, need to SLAM?

Haven't actually raised the chlorine to mustard shock level yet to try to get rid of it. The kids are in there every day so I just haven't found a good time, but will probably do it after school starts back in a few weeks. Also the way our pool was plumbed, the bypass valve handle can't turn a...

Clear pool, mustard algae, need to SLAM?

So, I got the liquid chlorine and was ready to bring up the FC level and scrub the next morning per this suggestion, only I never got the chance since I woke up to a pool full of mud due to a drainage issue from our neighbor's house (which has since been resolved). Now that we are up and...

Woke up to this muddy mess, at a loss of what to do next...

Yes, the neighbor had contractors out today to install a temporary fix so the drain won't clog again (metal screens that'll catch debris such as pine straw but will still let the water flow through), and hopefully they'll do a more permanent solution soon. We've had more heavy rains tonight and...

Woke up to this muddy mess, at a loss of what to do next...

Thanks for the response. You're right, we aren't set up for it. Luckily our pool builder was able to send out two of his guys today to drain, pressure wash, and vacuum the silt from the pool and pipes. Now we just have to clean out our filter (I need to research on here what we should soak...

Woke up to this muddy mess, at a loss of what to do next...

I feel like I should know this, but how do you vacuum to waste? I have never done that before and not sure how I would do it. There isn't a valve I could open between the pump and filter I don't think...

Woke up to this muddy mess, at a loss of what to do next...

The mud actually came in from the back wall, our neighbor had a mud slide and their drain was clogged with debris, so the muddy water came thru into our yard, then our strip drains carried it around the pool. Pool builder is saying fastest solution would be to drain, clean, and refill...

Woke up to this muddy mess, at a loss of what to do next...

We woke up to this. Filter pump had been running, spa pump wasn't (which is why it is still clear). Shut off the panel into service mode, but now I'm not sure what to do next and wondering if anyone has ever had anything similar happen or can offer advice? Not sure yet if the mud is seeping...

Clear pool, mustard algae, need to SLAM?

Thanks! I will try that. Any idea how long it may take for the FC level to come back down to 8 after raising it to 28? Normally on a sunny day we lose 1ppm FC, so I'm wondering if it'll take 20 days to go from 28 to 8, or if the FC will burn off more quickly than that at such a high level?

Clear pool, mustard algae, need to SLAM?

Our pool is crystal clear, but we have some mustard algae developing on the sides. It brushes away easily, but I'm wondering if we should just increase our FC to what is recommended in the Chlorine/CYA chart (8) and continue brushing if the mustard algae comes back, or if we need to SLAM? If...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Great thread! I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on an s200 or s300. One question for those of you who have a spa...do you also use the robot to clean the spa? If so, is there a shorter cycle time for that?

Should we add inline filter to catch debris going into spa?

It is just the spillway between the spa and the pool.

Should we add inline filter to catch debris going into spa?

Nope, no other water features. It's my first pool so I have nothing to compare it to, but I will admit everyone who looks at the plumbing seems to think it is overly complex. When I want to adjust the waterfall size, I do it by adjusting the pump speed of that pump on the left. That pump is...

What are these floating flakes and how do I get rid of them?

I think you're right that its tree pollen - after a big rain the flakes seemed to be reduced, but we still have some lingering. How does the hair net in the skimmer work? I may want to try that, but I'm having trouble picturing how that would work (the flakes just gather on the top of the...

Should we add inline filter to catch debris going into spa?

I wouldn't be surprised if the way they plumbed it is strange...there was some turnover with our PB at that time in the build and I think he designed the equipment pad as opposed to the person who normally did it for him. Here is a picture; valves are set to be in pool mode in the pic so that...
