    Hmmm...got a leak.

Well, we do indeed have a leak. Next test will be checking to see if is in the jets supply line by topping the spa off and then flipping the spa supply to the bottom supply rather than the jets.

    Hmmm...got a leak.

Oh ho...just found the bucket test! I might have been being an idiot and this is all evaporation, as the spa is not covered and the pool is.

    Hmmm...got a leak.

I have a small exercise pool and spa. Pool is 4000 gallons, spa is 400 gallons. Over the last few months I have started losing water. I recently disabled the recirc feature of my control system (it normally exercises pool, the spa, then refills spa from pool and shuts off. Every morning)...

Water tests fine, but funky smell and some green on masonry - what to do?

Yes, I suspect the problem is the trapped moisture below the cover. I am ordering a new cover and will just let it float on the pool surface. The wife wanted the more rigid solution because she was afraid the dogs might jump in and drown. They have shown no inclination to do so and are rarely...

Water tests fine, but funky smell and some green on masonry - what to do?

Holy cow, been doing it to myself! I will try the sodium hypochlorite and see how things go. Many thanks!

Water tests fine, but funky smell and some green on masonry - what to do?

I am an idiot...I meant 7.8 I have added acid to bring it down. I keep fighting this, always having to add muriatic to bring it back down. It also seems to constantly have a rising CH. Which in the summer I beat down by adding make up water for the loss I get in my homebrewed solar system...

Water tests fine, but funky smell and some green on masonry - what to do?

For clarity (heh) there is no discoloration of the water. Perfectly clear. And a cup of test water away from the pool has no odor other than chlorine. Just read the SLAM procedure. Going to go add stabilizer per the recommendation on pool math.

Water tests fine, but funky smell and some green on masonry - what to do?

TF-100 kit FC - 6 pH - 7.8 TA - 60 CH - 300 CYA - low...maybe 10-20, but I have never run it very high as the pool is completely enclosed inside a room. So 'suddenly', no, but I never kept it high.

Water tests fine, but funky smell and some green on masonry - what to do?

So we haven't been in the pool for a few weeks. I had one extended absence and the wife did not check as instructed while gone. Got back, and noticed a funky odor, chlorine was low but OK and water looks fine. Added hypo and water tests are all fine, maybe 1 on CC I never had before. But...

Our Pool Is Making Us Cough

This is the method I use for CYA tests on my indoor 4k gal pool...no coughing here. I keep FC at 2-5.

Possible problem, certainly not good - a crack

It's all good until/if it starts leaking! Moving forward, I will route feedlines for the FL and get it started up later this week. The wife is ordering furniture for the room.

Possible problem, certainly not good - a crack

It happened seconds before I started to drill the first hole.

Possible problem, certainly not good - a crack

Yes, very straight! It also spans multiple tiles and is about 25" in total length. I cannot even get a business card in the crack. Yes, still no water loss. Here's the fast-lane water-pump unit installed finally! The crack is under the pink towel and goes down towards a return that is...

    Updated pics of the pool/spa

Got the fast-lane pump installed in the pool tonight! Amazingly, all the pre-drilled holes lined up and it went very easily. I also got the pump system placed on the equipment pad and was thrilled to find it has a pigtail ready to go...so all I need to do is run the hydraulic hoses to the pump...

Possible problem, certainly not good - a crack

Still no leaking, but I will get a pic when I get in to finish the install. Gonna be next week as I am out of pocket this weekend and need some help setting the fast-lane pump. Not a one man job

Possible problem, certainly not good - a crack

As noted in a different thread, we are almost done with our pool project. The last bit in the pool is installing the Fast-Lane swim pump in the pool. I was in the pool Monday night, after heating it up from 61 to 85 degrees, and as I was preparing to drill a hole for mounting the Fas-Lane, I...

New indoor/outdoor pool going in - questions about equipment

An update on condensation. Last night I heated the pool up from 61 degrees to 85 because we are starting to install the fast-lane equipment. We instantly had condensation on the glass walls. It was in the 40's outside I think. This was expected. I rolled the cover over the pool and opened...

Pool heater "time to heat" and "cost to heat" calculations >

Re: Pool heater "time to heat" and "cost to heat" calculations > I finally heated up our new pool last night as I was finally starting to install the fast-lane equipment. My empirical math had our pool warming at a 0.24 degrees per minute rate. I heated it from 61 to 85 degrees. It had lost...

Got my automation online - but slight problem with valve speeds

It could, although I think check valves in returns is generally frowned upon. The problem is I would need two, as there is not enough room in the piping as installed to add just one between the skimmer/main-drain valve and the 3-way return valve. There is only an elbow between them! Yes.

Got my automation online - but slight problem with valve speeds

I do have a spillover from spa to pool. 'spa refill mode' takes advantage of this, but the freeze protection needs to work both pool returns and both spa supply paths, not just leave it in pool>spa mode.

Got my automation online - but slight problem with valve speeds

I got the majority of the automation working for my pool/spa this weekend. I can now control the pump, heater, and the supply and return valves from a PLC in a panel in the pool room using a panel-mounted touch-screen. However, I ran into a problem. Initially I set the program up to delay...

    Updated pics of the pool/spa

Daytime pic of the room from inside the sliding glass door. Notable features... -spa level is above pool level and has a spillover -8 jets in spa -There is a gutter running the length of the wall to catch any water spilling in that direction and drains out the far end. -every pair of windows can...

Paint that will hold up in a pool?

I have several stainless steel plates that will be covering the return channel for my fast-lane. I am considering painting the plates to make them prettier, what paints hold up well to pool chemicals? I see Home Depot (online) sells Duralax marine grade paint, will that work? Thanks!

Filter valve VERY difficult to turn?

I have a sand filter. Correct, if I switch the multiport to backwash I get water dumping out of the waste outlet, even without the pump on. I will try setting the control valves for pool settings and see if the pool suffers the same fate.

Filter valve VERY difficult to turn?

OK, I was wrong about the model, it is a Pentair 261055. It came apart exactly like the videos showed. There was some pebble coat in the valve in and around the spider-gasket. I cleaned it all out and reassembled and it turns freely now! BUT! I am still confused. With my valves set to the...
