    Calcium Hardness in AGP

I'll check the CH tomorrow. Here's the story: We are selling the house. I hired the pool company to pull up half of the liner to cut out what I thoughy was a 1" root sticking up. It's been there since they put the pool up 3 years ago. Turned to be rock amongst about 20 2" rocks that were...

    Calcium Hardness in AGP

How important is it to track calcium hardness in an above ground pool? Our pool store is telling me that I rusted out our pool wall because of calcium hardness.

    Can't see the bottom

I went out of town and left the pool on care of family members. It was a little cloudy when I got home and now after a week it keeps getting worse. Wondering if I should go ahead and slam? Cl- 3.5 brought it up to 6 Cc - 0 Ph - keeps drifting up to 7.8 and more Cya- 50 Alk- 70

    Power cord is HOT

I think the wire is 12 gauge, it's 50 ft from the house to the pump. Can't answer the voltage question, today when I asked the electrician that, (this is way beyond me) he just said 115, referring to what the pump says on it. I can try to call tomorrow and ask again. I do have a dedicated line...

    Power cord is HOT

If we set it up for 240voltage, are you saying that means wiring from the house to the pump? Please stay with me here, I'm trying to keep my head above water. Some of the suggestions seem beyond what I can handle. Sorry, I just noticed that you mentioned the wiring from the house to the pad...

    Power cord is HOT

Ok, I got a pool serviceman out today. He says the motor is runnng at 14.8 amps consistently. Which is almost full throttle. He said the motor should not be running as hot as it is (see my posts above from July!) it's only 70 degrees here today. So he is calling the manufacturer. Against, this...

    Power cord is HOT

I apologize, we have several things needing repair suddenly in our home and the pool thing seems very overwhelming. But, Here's the latest update with our pump/motor/power cord: Yesterday I went out and looked it all over and realized I haven't emptied the small basket on the pump itself for...

    Power cord is HOT

I apologize, Ive been fighting a headache for a week, so I can only work on this when I can think. I'll get a picture posted. We had the same problem with a previous motor in June and Doughboy replaced it. This one is only two months old.

    PSI up after adding DE

I brought chlorine levels up to 15 last night. Vaccumed again this morning, and it looks much better, cloudy still, but blue! I figured out that I was off on my chlorine, a few ounces short each day.

    PSI up after adding DE

Yeah, I just thought it might help with the cloudiness some. And I wanted to try the DE anyway. This is my first issue with algae. I've vacuumed and brushed every day for a week, I'll post test results, but they seem pretty stable to me. Every day when I vacuum, you can see a path where I've...

    PSI up after adding DE

It would normally take at least a week to go up that much. I added 1/4 cup yesterday and it handled it better. Still was up 2 psi by this morning so I backwashed again. I'm fighting an algae problem, and cloudiness, it did look a little better today. Been vacuuming and brushing every day for a week.

    PSI up after adding DE

Ok, done. When I read "Add DE to a sand filter" I thought it said I would get close to two cups of DE before it was too much, so I guess I should have stopped at 1/4- 1/2 cup.

    PSI up after adding DE

So then I lose the DE I just added?
  24. T

    PSI up after adding DE

I added 3/4 cup of DE to our sand filter today for the first time. The PSI started at 7 and went up one or two PSI after I added the last 1/4 cup, and now a couple hours later it's sitting at 14. I saw in the DE instructions that it could go up, but I'm wondering what do I do now that it has...

    Power cord is HOT

I called the pool company who sold me the pool last year, and the electrician, who arrived yesterday morning, and they both thought the motor is just running hot because that's how it runs, and because we had 100 degree heat last week. The users guide for the pump states that it runs hot, over...

    Power cord is HOT

Looking at the owners manual, as dobeluvr pointed out last night, the motor has a thermal overload sensor on it and it says the motor will shut down if it gets too hot ( this new motor has not shut off at all yet). It says it will run above 140 degrees normally. I am thinking maaaybe it's not...

    Power cord is HOT

Sorry, you lost me guys. I got the clamp meter this morning along with the digital thermometer thing. Looking at the clamp meter, I know I'm over my head. Going to call for another electrician to get these readings for me.

    Power cord is HOT

Thank you all for your input. I really hope to not go a third weekend without a working pump or filter or whatever it is that's not working! We're having a wedding reception in our yard in ten days - I am spending more time on this than the wedding. Ugh Zea3 - I'll try the hose thing...
