    Dolphin Cleaners - confusing models/availability

Is the M500 the same as Oasis Z5? Can't seem to find M500 around anymore.

    CYA Testing at 0

No, I didn't watch it. They have it squirreled away where I can't see it. I guess I will either try a different reagent as you suggest or just add a small amount of stabilizer to my pool and see if that has any effect. I guess I could also test my reagent by adding a couple granules of...

    CYA Testing at 0

Hey TFP people! Been loving the TFP method, my pool loves it too. I read through threads asking if the CYA reagent in the TFP-1000 kit expires, because I was wondering the same thing. Last two tests my CYA shows 0 (the water in the view tube never clouds the black dot from view). The pool...

Algae but no FC loss on OCLT

Couldn't get anything onto the paper. Interesting that each tab can raise CYA 6-9 - that is way more than I would have thought. Last night I raised FC to 8 and brushed the pool. Sides look clean this morning. Maybe I'll give it a vacuum today.

Algae but no FC loss on OCLT

Water comes from the city (EBMUD) The green brushes off very easily. If I touch it, it basically just disperses into dust. My pool sweep will kick it up from the bottom and leave a clean line in its wake. I will try the paper test later to see if it's green. It could be that I miffed the CYA...

Algae but no FC loss on OCLT

Hi, Started following the TFP method about a month ago and things have been going pretty well. Discovered my CYA is 50 and I've been using the calculator to add the appropriate amount of bleach and keep the FC within recommended levels. My pool water is clear, but I get some greenish/brownish...

    Pool Guys

Got my TF-100 today. Tried to do the FC drop test and had a question. Following the instructions, I kept adding drops until the liquid turned clear. There were still some tiny pink swirls in the very bottom that stuck there as I kept adding drops. Do I keep adding drops until the swirls...

    Pool Guys

I ordered a ton of bleach as well. I started seeing some evidence of algae growing the other day so I raised the fc as much as I could with the bleach and shock I had on hand. The water is almost totally clear now but a tiny bit greenish dust is coming up when I brush the bottom. Do I SLAM or...

For an SWG, I have a variable speed pump. Do I have to run it at a certain speed for the SWG to work? Does it matter what speed, I guess is what I'm asking? I generally like to run it at a lower speed for more hours to lower the energy bill. If I were to have to crank the speed up I'd have to...

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far. This is very interesting insight. I had the feeling the pool store was trying to sell me magic potion ;) I'm going to start researching SWG as that sounds like it might be a fit for the way I want to do things.

This is helpful, thanks. What do you guys think about Leslie's Perfect Weekly, Phos Free, and all-in-one chemicals like that? - - - Updated - - - Also, what about using less tablets than recommended and then maybe adding bleach once a week or so? Has anyone created a nice balance where the...

    Pool Guys

Hi All, I just started caring for my own pool a few weeks ago. I was reading about the chlorination methods proposed here - primarily bleach and not using tablets due to the stabilizer build up issue. What I'm wondering is - if you guys and gals are adding bleach to your pools every day to...

    Pentair/Compool CVA-24 Automation

I'm thinking of using a Raspberry Pi to control the CVA-24. Does anybody know what the different pins on the 3-pin CVA-24 Cable do? If I send 24V to them can I get it to open and close? I assume it's not expecting a digital signal.

    Sweep / Solar Automation Question

Thanks, this is helpful. My current setup is an Intelliflo (the 3HP one), Pentair booster, Cartridge filter, and a couple of timer boxes (one no longer used since I got the Intelliflo since it has a built in timer). Unfortunately my wife has informed me we can't get the robot because of the...

    Sweep / Solar Automation Question

Hi all, First time poster. I recently installed a variable speed pump and am loving the incredible energy savings. I'm almost ready to open my pool for the season and opened the manual valve to get the water running up to the solar panels on my roof. What I noticed is that the pressure drops in...
