FC loss during day extreme

I dunno...my pool doesnt seem as troublefree as last year. Just tested water at 4PM and got a 2.5 FC with 0 CC. Added more. No idea why my level doesnt hold during the day. Im wondering if my CYA is as high as I thought it would be...but have to wait to test since it was just added. Anthony

    FC loss during day extreme

FC was 6.5 at 9PM. Tested 6AM and was 6 with .5 CC. I'm thinking this helps to show my FC loss is not due to organics. Will add enough CYA to get to 50-60 today. Thanks again, Anthony

    FC loss during day extreme

Thanks for the reply. I will let it ride and pray it holds out till tonight. Last year with similar CYA I would add to about 6-7 at night and would be 3.5ish the night night. Hopefully what little I have left will hold till tonight. Anthony

    FC loss during day extreme

I opened the pool a couple weeks ago to clear water, but a few piles of leaves/dirt that I suppose I should have vacuumed out before I closed last year. Filled up the water and ran a full set of numbers. FC was obviously 0 CYA was 0 ... assuming possibly an amonia problem...was 40 last year and...

Re: Caution!!!on buying cheap prices on bleach at Discount S I ran into that last year. I was at their store buying DE and asked what % their liquid chlorine was. They weren't positive, but thought it was about 35% Anthony

    CYA reading odd

Fair enough and could explain my drop to 5.5FC from 7.5 last night. Still getting .5 CC. Will have to wait till tonight to get CYA. I'm sure most/all chlorine will burn off, but the boss doesn't seem to care :whip: Thanks again. Anthony

    CYA reading odd

Thanks to both of you for the help. The testing stuff was kept inside, so I will assume it is good. I added 4 gallons of 6% an hour ago, so will test now to see what that gets me. I was just trying to get the testing out of the way to determine what I was going to add. I will plan on adding...

    CYA reading odd

Hello everyone. That time of year again. Opening the pool and trying to get an initial test out of the way. Im using the TFTest Kit bought new 1 year ago. Last year I had a CYA of about 35. Drained no more than 1/3 of total pool capacity during closing last year. Open pool this year and get NO...

Test results -- Looking for opinions

I certainly feel the need to question my own test results sometimes. First thing this morning I started aerating the pool by aiming the returns up. Made a nice powerboat like wake at both ends of the pool. Ran tests when I got home this morning and found my ph to be about 7.2. Was a little...

Test results -- Looking for opinions

I recently finished a rehab of a neglected pool. Have it filled and would love to get this balanced and happy. Also, unless any test results make the pool unsafe for swimmers, I expect to host a graduation party tomorrow afternoon. Just something to keep in mind if that in any way makes a...

    Pool repair

Made some progress on the pool. Got all the old liner out of the pool and bagged it all up. I had about 4" of dirt on the shallow end of the pool...guess this was where the dirt that was supposed to be under my steps was washing out to. photo...

Sand, Sand and Portland, or Vermiculite with sand & Portland

Thanks for the response. With the idea that this is V+Portland ,,, what are my options for patching? I work at a company that uses vermiculite to pack chemicals for shipping. We use everything from chunks to a finer sand-like material. I assume that I can buy Portland at my local home...

Sand, Sand and Portland, or Vermiculite with sand & Portland

How can I tell what the bottom of my pool is? I included a couple pics in case this helps. I have some areas of the pool floor to patch (about 30%) and am trying to figure out what to use. Thanks, Anthony photo.jpg[/attachment:zzjnn4k1] photo...

    Pool repair

I guess I figured out the line in question from above. I left the water running a while and sure enough I ended up with wet spots around the pool...must be leaking underground. I have three additional returns, so unless someone explains to me why it would be real stupid to do...I will just cap...

    Pool repair

I agree completely...so I added valves. Decided to pressure test the underground plumbing prior to worrying about the floor or liner. Came up with a plubming contraption...and it seems to work fairly well. Tested the return on the steps and it held just fine. The step return is controlled...

Liner Thickness and Color Pic Request

I am in the middle of trying to bring my pool back from the dead. One step is a new liner. Found the place I want to order from (I can afford) ... but have a couple issues. I am rather partial to blue...always sorta thought that was the way it was supposed to be. The place I am looking at to...

    Pool repair

Took a look at the plumbing last night. Figured out (sorta) what I would need to plug up lines and try to pressure test the system. Went to the store to buy parts and came home empty-handed. The best I can tell I will have to test the system as two pieces. 1. skimmer, main drain, and...

    Pool repair

Thanks for the advice. I finished measuring for the liner yesterday. Faxed that to the company for a quote. Now I have a bit of time before the liner comes...so will get to work on other stuff. Based on the above recommendation I will work on pressure testing the plumbing today. Thinking I...

    Pool repair

LOL I have...but expect when its done it will be worth it. Most of the floor is solid...patch what isnt. Buy a liner and hang it. Fill with water. Cuss at the plumbing leaks. :hammer: Swim. Think that should cover most of it :goodjob: Anthony
