Pentair Microbrite light trouble - flashing red

Fortunately, it's still under warranty. Figured there wasn't a user fix, but thought I'd check. Thanks :)

Pentair Microbrite light trouble - flashing red

In many years of pool ownership we’ve never seen this: One of our two Pentair Microbrite lights has started flashing red tonight. The other one is its normal custom blue color. We’ve searched online and can’t find anything on this issue, so thought we’d put it out to the experts here to see if...

Thanks! Oops, that PH number was a typo. It was 8.2 :)

So many issues! Test results, questions and more.

Been awhile since I checked in with numbers, so here's where I am this morning: FC 5.5 CC 0 PH 8.5 TA 70 CH 525 CYA 50 Temp is 89. So will be adding acid in just a bit, and have just put a sock of stabilizer in front of a jet. Does anyone see anything else that's too far out of whack? Thanks!

    What's your current pool temp?

Ninety-one degrees, thanks to our Pentair Ultratemp :)

    Beware of falling fish....

We have ospreys that nest a couple of streets over each year and we're always seeing them fly over with fish (ocean is three blocks away). I figure it's just a matter of time before we find a mullet or whiting in the pool!

Life is really good here in North Florida today. Air is 83 degrees, water is heated to 90. We can't believe our good fortune!

Is this an acceptable tile instatllation?

That has nothing to do with "taste." That's simply low-quality work.

If I could change TroubleFreePool, I would....

Perhaps some more cross-linking within existing content? Example: While reading about alkalinity in Recommended Pool Chemicals, include a link to the alkalinity testing instructions page (and vice versa). Or ... maybe a short list of "Related links" at the bottom of some pages.

Hi there! Just did a full test of the water -- does anything jump out as needing immediate attention? Thanks in advance :) FC - 4.5 CC - 0 pH - 7.5 TA - 60 CH - 625 CYA - 55 CSI is at -0.34 Water temp is 61 F We're probably going to turn on the heater tomorrow since the air temps are forecast...

Mighty sparkly around here today. Looks like a natural spring! (And about as cold as one, too.)

Just dropping by to share this morning's test numbers: FC 5 pH 8.0 TA 80 CH 650 CYA 65 CSI 0.46 Per Pool Math, I need to add just a little (8.8 oz.) of muriatic acid. Does such a small amount need to be diluted in a bucket of water first, or can I just pour it in there?

Today's question :) In the info you linked to, pooldv, about adding chemicals, it says this about adding stabilizer: "After adding CYA you should leave the pump running for 24 hours and not backwash/clean the filter for a week." We have a cartridge filter -- does the part of that statement...

PoolMath says my CSI is 0.52. Do I understand you correctly, that it's the high TA that affects CSI? - - - Updated - - - Cancel my last question. I went and read the link you gave me, got my answer :) THANKS again for all of your help!

Thanks, pooldv! Good to know that about CC. Do you think we can live awhile with that CH number if we keep everything else tightly controlled? Also, here's another pic of the happy pool.

Progress! The water is no longer cloudy and the CH is getting under control. Latest numbers: FC - 4 CC - 0 pH - 7.8 TA - 100 CH - 650 CYA - 0 Looks like it's time to add some stabilizer. Question: Should I be concerned about the zero reading on combined chlorine?

Thanks, pooldv and needsajet! Just did one last vacuum before starting the drain. Focus now is on getting that CH down while continuing to monitor all of the numbers.

Checking in. We've had two more rounds of vacuuming, letting stuff settle, then vacuuming again. Water looks better and better, but still has a haze. We will start our next partial drain later today or tomorrow. I just ran the tests to get a new benchmark. Do you see any urgent issues in...

Don't get much in way of snow in these parts :D The stuff is heavily piled up in spots, so the husband is going after those first. Crazy how much there is! We'll probably have many rounds of vacuuming, letting it settle again, then back to vacuuming. Have to go really slowly, since even the...

We thought about a robot, but the pool is really small and we actually kind of enjoy spiffing up with the vacuum ourselves :) After some time goes by, though, we may tire of that and change our minds!

So this morning we have whatever the white stuff is well settled on the bottom and the water above it is looking pretty good! We're going to slowly vacuum the bottom and route it out of circulation, which will remove water at the same time, of course. Then we'll top the water off again and see...
