Why variance between pool store computer and taylor 2006

I've been checking my pool more in last week than I ever did in 11 years of ownership. Been writing levels down to see any changes. I don't have a reagent for Salt level ( found out yesterday I can get one for that) so I went to store to see my salt level. Salt got very low on vacation and...

Worst that pool has ever looked

OCLT = 0 14 at 10pm and 14 at 7:30am. I found my answer to my earlier question when I read the how to section. I left the pump running and turned the SWG off for an hour before the first OCLT test.

I didn't do only because I was out of reagent until today, according to my SLAM calculation in only needed to get above 12 FC w CYA of 30 but I've been up to 22. I can do and OCLT tonight. Do I leave pump on w swg off , or turn everything off?

How high should I get FC and maintain? The chart I saw doesn't start until CYA of 60 with SWG. My cya was 16 at pool store and they had me add 3lbs of stabilizer 1st day. Skipped adding the 2nd 3lbs today as recommended here on forum. I was thinking 20, is that reasonable or too high? Is it so...

Worst that pool has ever looked

Wife just checked pool pH 7.2 FC 18 CC >18 She stopped at 36 drops on 10ml sample, didn't want to use anymore. I've never had CC higher tha 1.5, is > 18 normal with slam? Said pool is blue but can't see bottom to see if algae present.

Would having pool blanket on help keep chlorine in so water wouldn't be in direct sun? I have a thermal blanket that we used to warm pool, removed it right before vacation, maybe that helped lose chorine and turn green. We've been pulling it off to swim and replacing to keep warmth in at night...

Worst that pool has ever looked

I'm surprised the ph dropped from 8.6 to below 7 with one gallon. Should I wait and not add the other half jug of CYA tomorrow as directed by store to get level back up? Just instructed my wife how to do the FC, CC and ph tomorrow for me. She hasnt used Taylor kit at all, only generic kit from...

Worst that pool has ever looked

Been gone on vacation and pool hasn't been checked in 2 weeks, temp has gone up in last few weeks and I guess thats what did me in. Got home overnight and this morning immediately saw green gunite pool. On closer observation water was clear just green on walls and especially floor. Checked SWG...

    First test with new kit

Going to SLAM it starting tonight. Even if the spots aren't black algae I still get a pale green dusting in the corners/shaded spots. Just checked pH 7.4 and FC 9.5, CC .5 How hight do I want to get my FC with the SLAM? The chart for SWG starts at CYA of 60 and a Shock FC of 24. I'm showing...

    First test with new kit

I will get in the water and do the fingernail test tomorrow evening, I'm pretty convinced it is black algae. I may need to read up on the SLAM I've heard about but never done. I guess this is a good time since my CYA is pretty much nonexistent as this point.

    First test with new kit

Sorry didn't post results up the next day, spent the whole weekend with a fever in the bed. Can't remember the last time that I've been sick in the bed for a single day especially three days. Checked the pool this evening and the numbers are as follows: FC 5.4 CC .2 pH 7.7 TA 60 CH 300 CYA...

    First test with new kit

Thanks, I will add the baking soda, some bleach and turn up my SWG tonight. I will recheck the numbers tomorrow afternoon and post results. I haven't had to add water in awhile, we are near Florida and been getting a fair amount of rain. When I do add water to pool it is from a well.

    First test with new kit

I typed the chlorine in wrong, my CC was .2ppm, the TC was 2.0ppm using my test kit. From store the FC was 1.36 and Total was 1.67. My CYA was 6 from the store, it didn't show up on the post the way it did when I wrote it, had them separated by many spaces. My water temperature is 86 right...

    First test with new kit

Been testing water at pool store and at home with basic pH/chlorine test kit, my Taylor 2006 test kit came in today. We built our pool 10 years ago and was chlorine for first 5 and salt generator for last 5 years, been much easier to maintain with the salt. Our pool is Gunite 16x32 with 3.5ft...
