Chemical balance when treating iron stains

Thank you SW. My pool requires a steady diet of muratic acid to keep ph down and the pool store charges about $8 per gallon. So I can buy acid there and have them test my water for phosphates periodically. I've never added sequestrant before and the last time the pool store analyzed for me...

Chemical balance when treating iron stains

Thank you so much Swampwoman! The beauty of this site and it's members is that nobody has to keep reinventing the wheel. Experience is the best tool available. I do like the fewer steps to the proteam product and will try that if I have the staining recur. Since my well water did test very...

Chemical balance when treating iron stains

Today's chemistry per TF-100 FC-5 TC-5 CH-300 TA-70 CYA-70 ph-7.3 CSI - neg 0.45 Temp - 74 degrees I'm preparing to treat pool for iron stains using a Stain Eliminator Kit from Periodic Products. I'm using the kit because it's the recommended kit for the CULATOR metal eliminator product and...

    Patio Furniture

I have all polywood furniture and LOVE it! It is a bit pricey but durable and the only metal is stainless steel screws so no staining. Rinses off with the water hose and comes in a variety of colors.

in-floor not moving much dirt or leaves into the drain

Outdoors gal, I've had the same issues with my infloor and just recently got it working right after 2 years. We have 2 "fixed" heads near the main drain and according to PB last trip these 2 heads were moving debris past the drain rather than allowing it to go into the drain. We shut the fixed...

white pebbles in my pump basket

They look like the white landscaping rocks from Home Depot. I use them to keep cats from doing their business in potted plants.

We are having a cold front (88 degrees) here in South Arkansas so I'm not IN the pool much this week but I sure am happy to finally have it balanced and clean. CSI was (negative) - 0.01 so that's good - right? I have some iron stains that I want to remove after swim season is over but since...

Thanks Chief. I've been trying to read more than I post and I am just in awe of the information that is available on this site. Newbies - read, read and read some more! I have been doing the full range of TF-100 tests daily to get better at it and to make sure the pool is stable. I got the...

What did you do to your pool today?

I cleaned like a bandit getting ready for back to school swim party. Washed the deck, vacuumed the pool...patted myself on the back. Came back outside an hour later to find a full blown ant invasion. Went back to step one and repeated ?

Thank you so much for your help chief. So how do I test the CSI and FAS-DPD? I have a log of test results but have never been able to duplicate results from one method to another. I was more trusting of the pool store electronic test but I saw first hand today how sloppy work can skew the...

I'm totally convinced now the TFP is the better way. "Pool guy" came this morning and I watched as he took a sample from the surface (yep) and generated the following numbers: FC/TC-7.74, ph-7.6, TA-85, CYA-30 and CH-350. A few minutes before he got here I took a sample from the same section...

Ok mineral cartridge is out. BTW we have well water but don't have any problems with household use. Until test kit gets here I only have strips and pool store for testing and of course they never agree. I took a sample to pool store yesterday and got the following results: FC/TC 9.8 CC zero ph...

Mine is a different model so instead of drilling out pellets I should be able to just put the old, used up cartridge back in to plug the opening. The mineral cartridge and the SW cell are in the same canister but each has its own cap.

Just ordered the kit and Speedstir and can't wait to get this process under control. Thanks a million! - - - Updated - - - Ok I see what you mean about the plumbing. I replaced the cartridge in June but will pocket that money from now on.

I don't understand - why would you have to patch pvc plumbing? So mineral cartridge doesn't really do anything but dig in my pocket?

First time pool owner and I REALLY wish I had spent some time here at TFP prior to having a pool built in 2013. I would have done some things differently for sure! This is our 2nd swim season and I'm just now getting a handle on how things work. I'm tired of testing three different ways...
