    Skimaround?

Anyone else using one? Verdict is still out for me. It definitely does the job, but I find it to be a real balancing act with the suction. My vac doesn't climb to the waterline anymore, but if I increase the suction to the vac which lessens it to the skimaround, then the skimmer doesn't have...

    Still got it!

Recently returned to pool ownership after 5 years. The new place has an old pool that was terrible! The equipment was worn, valves were stripped, and it was filthy! Of course it passed everything on the home inspection  ... So upgraded some equipment and got back into the TFP method and am...

Thanks Matt, I am local to you. Who would you recommend? I have a call into Patio Pools and Spas to request an appointment.

I believe they are Iron pipes.

Back after several years! Need help IDing a few valves.

Well the couplings slid off, so I am best just to replace all this with PVC and a jandy valve right?

Back after several years! Need help IDing a few valves.

House was built in 57 and the pool sometime after, so 70s is probably right. It is old. It's in good shape, but who knows what it going on beneath the surface with the plumbing. I think I am going to try to replace that piping that is above ground with a 3 way and see how that gets me by. We...

Back after several years! Need help IDing a few valves.

Well found the issue with the valve, it's stripped. Going to see.if I can find one locally, but I have to imagine the gate is stripped as well. I can't get the main housing for the valve off. I assume it is soldered on since they are copper. I did notice when I was trying to wrench on it that...

Back after several years! Need help IDing a few valves.

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions. I think I will try to repair the valve. If not, get someone to take those couplers off and run something new. I was looking more and I noticed this under the skimmer inlet. Separate hook up for a sweep or maybe a pressure side sweep?

Back after several years! Need help IDing a few valves.

Hey all, been a few years since I had a pool and was an active TFP member, but with a new move, I am back in the deep end! But this pool is significantly older than my last. There are two valves that I need help IDing. I believe they are for main drain and skimmer. If I turn the closest one...

Has anyone ever used a light wedge?

My niche ring got mangled and there is no way it will support the new light. I called Inyo and they recommended this: Pool Tool Company Wedge, Repair Light (132) - INYOPools.com Anyone have experience with the wedge or know of a similar or better way? Thanks

    Basket half full...

Dave, pump primes and runs, but about half of the basket stays air. I can run it for as long as needed and it does it's job, but it is introducing air into the solar system causing some sloshing.

    Basket half full...

Dave, thanks for responding. The problem is is I can't get the basket to fill. Once I had to have our solar company come out to fix a pipe union. He was able to get the pump totally full before starting, but unfortunately, I wasn't there to pic his brain. I can get it to where is is full, but as...

    Basket half full...

No this is not a philosophical question :D My pump housing is always half to 3/4 full. When I fill it, as soon as I pull the hose, the water drains out of the pipe. It is an older pump that is only on or off. It doesn't have a prime startup cycle to run the air out. Because of this I am getting...

    Need advice on full timer

That has crossed my mind. I am pretty sure I have an open zone on my controller, but I would still like something with more localized control so I can turn it on without manually running that zone from the garage.

    Need advice on full timer

Hey guys, I am attaching a pic of my plumbing. The tall black knob on the right is how I fill my pool. I am hoping to find some sort of battery operated timer that can replace the knob or go inline with the plumbing but all I can find is inline hose timers. Any thoughts? Thanks.
