    TA increased with ph minus

Hi. My ph was creeping up last summer and this year when I opened it was 8. TA 80(pool store said 77). After adding ph minus to bring down to 7.7 I was shocked that TA went to 90. Fully expected it to go down. Tested twice. Could this be right?

Pool uncovered for repair. Add chlorine?

Hi. I noticed water streaming out of a hole in my above ground pool yesterday. Luckily it’s not down too far. We had a brutal winter and my pool guy thinks it may have been ice. At any rate he’s coming tomorrow to patch it so I uncovered it. The pump is not hooked up because we may still have...

    Instructions for SLAM

I am totally new here and SLAMMING for the 1st time. I would've found it helpful if under the SLAM procedure instructions it was suggested that I order an extra bottle of reagent prior to starting. Now I am on Day 2 and desperately hoping it arrives today.

1st time SLAMMER and have some questions

I'm reposting in the hopes I get some hits. I found TFP because I was worried about my non-existent FC and started reading here about the CYA/Chlorine relationship. I ordered the Taylor FAS-DPD kit and began draining my pool when the test revealed my CYA was really high. I got the CYA to 70...

    Taylor alkalinity test

Well after draining my pool, my CYA levels came down considerably to 70, though not ideal. When I performed the Taylor alkalinity test, at 7 drops the water turned from green to clear. At 8 drops the water turned pink. At 9 drops it became a deeper pink. Would the 8 drops be the completed test...

    enzymes

I know that TFP doesn't recommend enzymes. I am wondering why? Will they alter the pool chemistry like ph or alkalinity in any way? I've been told they can help chlorine do it's job but I didn't know if chlorine levels need to be adjusted to accomodate.

    Can't find the "calculator"

Is there a place on the app where I can enter my current levels and the calculator will give me results on what and how much to add based on my pool size? I think I remember an acquaintance entering his info on his phone and the app calculated what he needed to add, but I can't find it anywhere.

    draining and balancing

I'm draining my pool again in an attempt to get the CYA down. If I'm successful I plan to balance today. I notice my recommended levels for alkalinity are much lower than the 80-120 I'm accustomed to. I notice that the recommended level goes up as CYA goes up. Does this mean that TFP uses the...

    CYA

My Taylor test came today! I knew my CYA was high (2 different stores told me I was at 100 and 105 respectively), but my home test was complete well before I hit the 100 mark on the tube. I'm starting to drain about 1-1.5 ft water, but wondering if there is a more sensitive home test.

New to TFP and using enzymes

Hi, I'm brand new here and have some questions. I noticed when I entered my pool info there are only choices for SWG and liquid chlorine. I am a monthly enzyme user switching from a weekly dichlor shock to a non-stabilized cal hypo chlorine in the form of weekly granular shock and additionally...
