    Leaving for ten days--advice?

The family is leaving tomorrow for 10 days. If no one is able to add chlorine while we're away, what should I do tonight/tomorrow morning to prepare? My cya is 30, so slam level of FC is 12. I added enough liquid chlorine tonight to bring the FC up to 9, but I planned to add 3-inch trichlor tabs...

My friend's first numbers with TF Pro 100 test

Here are my friend's numbers from the TF Pro 100 test. What do you suggest she do next? She has been draining and refilling to lower the CYA. 19000 gal, vinyl, auto cover, Pentair heater, robot, Pentair superflo vs pump, Indiana FC 2.5 CC 1 Hardness 300 Alk 190 pH 7.5 CYA 180 Separate copper...

Is 2100 ok for pump 24/7?

I set my Pentair VS pump on 2100 for 24 hours a day. Is that an appropriate setting for summer in Indiana with an auto cover that’s always closed unless we’re swimming?

    199 CYA even possible?!

I’m trying to convert a friend to the TFP method. Leslie’s test just came back with a cya reading of 199! Is that even possible? Wouldn’t she not be able to hold chlorine if it were that high? And how did hardness magically drop from 175 to zero in a week? Image 6405 is today. 6332 is 8 days...

Just did my first TF Pro Test! Suggestions?

My test kit came today, and I have my first results! What advice do you have for me going forward? I planned to add a gallon of muriatic acid to lower the alkalinity and aerate a lot to keep the pH stable, then continue to add liquid chlorine at night and monitor chlorine daily. One question: If...

    Pool Store's Recommended Ranges!

Now that I've found TFP, I know that pool store's tests are not to be trusted. However, I just looked at my store's recommended ranges that I've been using for three years and wanted to get your reactions. What are your thoughts? FC 3-7 TC 3-7 CC 0-0.2 pH 7.4-7.8 Hardness 200-400 Alkalinity...

How often to test calcium hardness?

My fill water has a calcium and hardness level of 247 ppm, and I have a vinyl liner. How often should I test the calcium hardness? I have an automatic cover, so almost no rain and very little evaporation. I normally refill a little only after backwashing.

Best copper test? Do I need one?

I just ordered my first TF Pro test kit and noticed it does not have a test for copper. For three years, I've been informed through pool store computer testing that my copper count is high. I regularly add a metal out product to lower it. It climbs again. A friend of mine has the same issue, and...

Really worth it to buy the recommended tests vs pool store computer test?

I've been using my local pool store's WaterLink Solutions computer testing since we built our pool three years ago. Now that I've found this site, I'm wondering if it really is worth it to buy my own testing kit. If I'm testing multiple times a week, won't I have to buy reagent refills often...

Anyone try the Pooli app? If so, thoughts?

Has anyone used the Pooli app? I used it at the end of last summer and so far this summer. Does anyone know how accurate the suggestions are regarding the suggestions Pooli gives to balance your pool water?
