split from Question on air release valve on my filter My filters are below water level. When I open the valve after it has been running, air comes out. Is that normal?

Moved from HERE I have the same issue, but I solve it by plugging the return jets. Is that bad? This is when I work on NOT the suction side, the other side, not sure what it's called.

16x38' pool in Cranston, Rhode Island. Open from May - September. In 2015 we replaced our traditional chlorine/backwash system to an Aquarite SWG/cartridge filter system. I wasnt around much when the pool was traditional chlorine, so I can't compare the two systems much. BUT I do hate washing...
