    Bathtub Ring

What is the best (easiest) way to solve the bathtub ring issue? There is a fine white line (calcium?) that goes all the way around my tile at the water line. Acid does not seem to clean it very well. Someone suggested bead blasting...do not want to do that!

    Grout repair/replacement help?

Our pool is 8 years old, and we have some areas of grout in the spa dam wall (around the tiles) that is worn and flaking out. How do we fix this? Can you simply do an acid wash and then replace the damaged grout? Or, do you have to first remove all of the old grout, then replace with new grout...

    2nd times a charm.......No Drain Acid Wash

Just completed round two of a "no drain acid wash". Used 8 gallons of acid this time and after 2 days all issues with scale and/or plaster dust have been resolved! The pool now looks better than ever before since being built in 2006. Thanks to everyone for their input on this topic!

Since we'll be doing a follow up no drain acid wash, I would like to know the proper amount of acid to use. For a pool of 30,000 gallons advice has ranged anywhere from 6 to 12 gallons. There are a few remaining areas of original plaster dust that was not properly removed during the initial...

How often to drain a pool?

Is it necessary to completely drain your pool every few years? I've been told that around here (North Texas) we should drain and refill every 5 years or so. Is this another "old wives tale", or is it legit?

Residual Plaster Dust...or is it scale?

This is a tough one! I built the pool myself and admit the start up was not properly done, i.e., not brushed often enough during the first few weeks of curing. The pool is 5 years old and now looks better than ever with the exception of a few random patches of a milky gray coloring on the pool...
