    Algae or Dirt

I’m on day 8 of SLAM. CYA=50 FC: 20 Pool opened black. Dealt with ammonia early on that was eating my chlorine immediately. 22 gallons to get that under control. FC finally holding. I’m just making sure this is dirt or dead algae and not active algae. It’s been an intense battle!!

    New Pump or motor

Seems to be one thing after the other recently. About a month ago my Hayward pump was humming so I replaced the capacitor and until today it’s been working great. Went to backwash because of a ton of rain and the pump stopped. Gave it some time went to fire it up and it caught flames for a few...

    Pump not holding prime

Hi guys, My pump is having issues holding prime. Literally the only way for me to get it to work is by priming it with a hose for 1 min or so. However , once the pump is shut off it immediately needs prime again (I’m taking like 10 seconds of me turning pump off and then trying to turn back on...

    Replacing valve handles

Hi, everyone. Over the past couple seasons my diverter valve handles have snapped off. Is this an easy replacement? I’m pretty handy. Just not sure if I can do this without cutting any pipe? Thanks!

Hey guys, In the beginning of the season in May I replaced the sand. All has been good until today. See attached video for where water is leaking when filter is on. What’s the best course of action?

    Pool heater leaking

Well you guys helped me cut my pvc pipe last time to open my filter up to change the sand but I’m back again with another problem that I neglected earlier until I realized it was slowly draining my water level in the pool. One thing to note. 1) when I bought the house the heater didn’t work...

    Clearing Algae Progression

Stay true to the Slam Process, it works. One thing I will say though, make sure your equipment is working effectively. For the last 2 seasons I had my pool chemistry on point but the pool didn’t look like I wanted it too. I finally cut the piping this year to open up the sand filter and there...

    Plumbing on Sand Filter

Hi guys, Bought this house 5 years ago with this plumbing already hooked up to the filter. It looks like it was glued in as I don’t see a union. Or will I be able to get it loose with pipe wrench?! I want to avoid cutting the pipe as I’m not that handy. All pool maintenance companies around me...

    Backwash pipe broke

Dumb question but I’m not that handy. What’s the best way to fix this. What do I need to buy? Would I have to take off the top gasket to do so?

Before and After (roughly 2 weeks)

Just wanted to throw up some before and after pics. The slam proved effective. Robot vaccum definitely helped get tons of leaves and debris off the bottom. Hang in there everyone. If this pool can be turned blue again..anyone’s can.

    FC and CYA levels

Hey guys I have a quick question. I posted a thread yesterday on replacing my water to lower CYA and I believe I did so. It was at roughly 100 and I believe I got it down to 60. Anyway, here’s my question. I just begun the SLAM process. Just prior to testing I based my FC off of a CYA of 70( I...

Hey guys, Just opened the pool a couple days ago. Thanks to you guys a bought a taylor test kit and starting doing the pool by myself. Anyway, opened the pool and it was filled with algae(had to close late due to cover being made). Used liquid chlorine and made it blue but very cloudy. I think I...

    New to Trouble Free Pool

Hey guys, Excited to join the community. This will be my second summer with my pool, with no pool experience prior. Hoping to grab some feedback from you guys! Just opened my pool 4 days ago. Had to close it late because I had a new cover being made. Pounds of leaves on the bottom combined...
