My RS6 control panel backlight has been flickering for a couple of weeks. 2 days ago the control panel went to all LEDs on and s/w info displayed on screen. It would not respond to buttons being pushed. Went outside to main power center for pool, shut off all power for a few mins. Turned power...

Need help understanding how pool/deck/coping are supposed to interface

Pool built in 2000. We moved in ~2010. At shallow end, the water line tile (6"sq) was popping loose. After the tile fell off, saw there was a crack/joint roughly half way up the tile and extended 6+ feet. Thru this "crack" were roots coming into the pool. Had it "fixed" during plaster job. It...

    Well water strategy

Pool was filled, after re-plaster, with city water. Same pool will be maintained on well water. Tested the well water with my brand new Taylor K2006C test kit. It shows: Cal Hardness = 220 PH= 7.4 TA= 370 (wow) Currently the pool is at: PH=7.4 TA= 110 FC= 2.0 ppm CC= 0.0 ppm Cal hardness=...

    TA testing with Taylor kit

TA test sequence says add 2 drops of R-0007, 5 drops of R-0008 then count drops of R-0009 till green solution turns red. At 7 drops I see solution turn clear, on drop 8 it turns red. I'm assuming my PH is in the lower 70's. Am I assuming correctly?

How long should I wait before adding acid?

New plaster job done yesterday, acid wash in the evening. Pool just got topped off with city water. Checked the fill water PH with my old Taylor kit and it was off scale (high). Took a sample to the pool store and they read 8.7 for PH. Got some test strips and they also show close to 9 for PH...

    Sequestering agent?

New plaster is in and pool being filled via trucks as I type this. Hope to have an accurate water quantity this time. Last time hose leaked a few thousand gallons down the street. Reading from this site, I was under the impression I needed to add a sequestering agent on fill day. Took a sample...

Need to replace old Pentair Spa light housing

While full chip-out/re-plaster is in progress, attempted to repair the conduit for the spa light in the yard. Wiring got damaged. Need to replace the old Pentair spa light with the same type fixture since I have a fairly expensive functional multi-colored LED bulb installed and I'd like to...

New DE filter and multiport valve mocked-up in place. Good news is the RETURN port of the multiport valve is facing the heater now. Bad news is the heater input is misaligned by abt 1/2". DE filter sizing

Currently have a 60 sq ft DE grid filter that needs replacement. Thinking up getting a 80 or 100 sq ft DE filter. Pump is a 2.5 hp single speed. With old filter, press was abt 26 psi just after replacing DE. Typically in abt 1 month, it would be up to 35 psi. The pressures always seemed high to...

Replacing Pentair Nautilus 60 sq ft DE filter

Haven't had any luck finding a good bottom for my cracked one. Looking at newer stuff. I see there are the FNS grid types and the "Quad DE Cartridge" types. Prices are fairly close. Is one better than the other? Do grids last longer than the "DE Cartridges"? Do these 2 types of Pentair filters...

    Part swapping thread

After the Texas disaster, got to wondering if there may be interest in a swapping parts thread. Everyone effected has the same problem now trying to get parts. Some sub assemblies may still be OK while the parent componant may not be. For example, my DE filter busted at the bottom. The top...

    Spalink RS Replacement/repair

Our Spalink RS spa-side controller is dead, again. I replaced it 2 years ago when it died. Now it's dead again. The replacement cost is outrageous. Are there any options? I tried searching for a repair facility but had no luck. Anyone repair one themselves? Thx!
