Sand level on Triton ii 60

I just performed a deep clean on my Triton ii 60 and the sand bed was a few inches below the intake port. I believe that is too low--only half way, and I should add some more. Anyone familiar with this filter to know where 325lbs hits? The intake port is right before the bend back in, so I'm...

Filter or waste when vacuuming algae

While slamming, is it more trouble to vacuum the dead algae to waste and refill/balance, or filter which always returns some of the algae back to the pool taking it longer to fully clear? I have a 30k pool and vacuum to waste drops about an inch or two, or approx 600g.

    Expected FC Drop

I'm currently slamming the pool after a bit of algae formed, had FC at 20 at sunrise, CYA is 50, pump/salt gen is turned off. After a full day of sun the FC is at 19 (CC effectively 0). I know slamming is about what happens overnight, but wouldn't you expect FC to drop more than 1ppm in a full...

    Alge or debris?

I'm commonly seeing settlement at the bottom of my pool, mostly on the shallow end and side of pool that has the returns. For a while, I thought it was just organic matter that was blown into the pool and settled. So my question is: does this look like a) settled organic matter, b) alge, c)...

    Used the wrong DE

I had to open the pool late due to repairs to plaster in the shallow end. There was a lot of organic material in the deep end that wasn't emptied, very green (and frog city). I used fair amount of algaecide before I learned that was a mistake. The pool is now full and i can finally vac to waste...

    Bottom drain mystery

I have an inground where the bottom drain feeds into the bottom of the skimmer bucket and then combines with skimmer water to a single line to the pump. Sadly, this gives me no control over bottom vs skimmer. I was curious to see how well the bottom drain worked, so I covered the pool-side of...

    Crackling Sound in Multiport

I can hear a crackling sound (perhaps air and water intermixing) from the multiport. Possibly from spider gasket? How do I tell if mine is serviceable?

    Salt clouds

I've been adding salt to my pool for 5 years now, and don't recall this kind of reaction when adding it. I added three, 45lb bags. For more details, my pool opened half-drained from a leak. So I had to re-add (through city and some help from rain water) 10,000 gallons. Naturally, all my...

CYA not Showing up after adding

To revive this thread with the same issue (as I don't see a final solution yet): I ran out of 0013 (it's now on order), so I took a sample to Leslies and they measured CYA at 0. I added 7lbs of stabilizer to the skimmer (premixing with water in bucket). The next trip Leslies's six days later...

If pool is clear, is FC 4-6 required?

I noticed in the pool school that recommend FC for SWG-pool is about 4+ (CYA 70+). I was under the impression that home pools should be FC 2 to 4. I keep mine barely at FC 2 (CC typically .5 at most). If the water stays clear, is that bad? Does the pool school recommend FC 4+ for safety or water...

Bottom drain low pressure expected when fed into skimmer?

Is lower pressure from the bottom drain expected if it feeds into the skimmer? I took off the cover, and couldn't feel much pressure when pressing my palm against the side-facing drain pipe. Maybe this is just enough to do the job without a safety risk, but wanted to confirm if I should look...
