I have an Intex Surface Mount Skimmer. With the upgraded pump it has worked well for me. EXCEPT the flimsy handle. The tabs continually break. In the past, I've had to purchase the basket with handle when all I need is the handle. Any ideas?

We successfully shocked the algae from our pool this spring but now there are black tar looking marks on the vinyl. Is this related to the algae and/or treatment? Do you have suggestions for removing it? A brush is not doing the job. Thank you for any suggestions.

Is there a chemical in the black dot at the bottom of the tube? Or is this simply a black color that fades with the cloudiness of the test water? What I'm asking... does the test tube get old and need replaced? We are on our 4th year.
